2010 EVO X Parking Brake Switch??

So... I'm installing my ARK STB, as in, as we speak, and everything is going smoothly except that one wire is supposed to go to the parking brake switch and idk where that is...

If someone could give me pictures or tell me where it is that would be much appreciated, thanks in advance... Prompt responses are extra appreciated.

You will find a little switch and only one (ground) wire connected to it at the base at your hand brake.
That switch is also connected to ypu acd ecu to allow the rear wheels lock up when yoy pull the ebrake while you moving.

Alright thank you, and out of curiousity... I've noticed that the stb works without that wire connected to anything... How vital is it that the wire is connected to the switch; and what will happen or what will *not* happen if I leave it disconnected?

Is the wire purely do that the stb will only work when the ebrake is engaged? Because right now (as I said) it works whether the ebrake is up or down...

Thanks again

From that other thread I linked you, he said the parking brake connection was optional. I'm guessing it's probably an added safety feature, so you don't jump out w/your car in neutral and no parking brake on.. why someone would even do that, I don't know, lol.

But yeah, other than what Rob said, you should be able to follow the beginning of any short-shifter or shift boot how-to for tips on getting in there (though I'm not too sure how far you gotta go to get to it)..

Personally, I'd probably just skip splicing into the parking brake connection if it's not required.

Glad to hear you got it installed!

Do you know, is it possible to leave the STB in a constant "off" mode all the time?

I'd like to get one, but not have it automatically switch into a "ready" mode every time the car is started.

That way I could just leave it off, like it's not even there.. then on the rare occasion I would need to use it, just press the button.

Thanks!

yep... if i turn it off, then turn off the car, lock it up like usual then unlock it and start it up, it will still be off.

all-in-all, freakin awesome investment. easy install, looks super clean, and performs flawless

Yeah, it should fit any of the Evo X's just fine.. but on the one's equipped with the FAST key system, I think you might run into a problem trying to lock the door with car still running.

ETA: Think the FAST key is only the SS/SSS trims & MR models. The regular remote key should be okay.

i am sorry i am not sure i do understand your question right. Can you make it even more simple for me?

Rob

ps , the ebrake switch must be leaved to work properly. Other wise you might will damage the drive train when you pull the e brake while you moving.

The e-brake wire is how the turbo-timer tries to prevent anyone from driving the car when it's running on the timer (without a key). Thus, it's really only important if you worry that someone will try to steal your car while it is timing down. Of course, 99% of all car thieves know how turbo-timers work and just don't release the e-brake completely, so the feature is close to worthless.

Rob - this has nothing to do with the e-brake itself and doesn't interfere with the ECU reading whether the e-brake is on. It's really just a simple and silly way to try to prevent people from driving the car without a key.

With that said, do not cut anything when installing the e-brake wire for the turbo-timer. Use a 2-1 vampire tap. As Rob pointed out, preventing the ECU from knowing when the e-brake is on could fry your center diff's clutch. The center diff snaps to open as soon as the e-brake is applied.
