The transmission is really pissing me off though...something needs to change with this damn tranny..
What's wrong with the tranny? It's well known to be a bit tough and grind when cold going into 3rd, but it shifts like butter at redline. If that's what you're talking about, that isn't going to change.

When its cold or when im racing it shifts fine, its when its warmed up it grinds almost everytime going into 2nd and 3rd when im daily driving it normally. Something WILL be done about it or this car is going straight back to where i got it from because that it just too ****ty I didnt drop 30k on a new car that grinds into gears when driving, no that **** is not "normal". Ive driven my friends evo 8 with the 5 speed that is apparently notchy too, he didnt have any grinding like i did its terrible.

I DD my gsr. I found I could mitigate most of the issues by just taking the time to learn about how the vehicle reacts to different conditions. I wouldn't exactly come in here saying the car is garbage. The car isn't even broken in yet. I bet if you changed the fluids you would see just how new it is(metal flakes)

I swapped the stock shift knob for a heavier one and it doesn't seem as notchy. Give that a try. Enjoy the car!

Just curious, what rpms are you shifting at in 2nd and 3rd? You gotta keep in mind this car is a race car. It's meant to be shifted at certain times under certain conditions.

I have a 2011, if you don't shift at the right time, it will let you know!

All I've done is AMS under hood bushings + AMS selector gate + JDM Ralliart weighted shift knob.

You need to either shift early and slow, or high rpm range. I've found that shifting > 3.3k < 4k can be finicky

What bushings and shift knob would you guys recommend? Might as well just pick the shift knob up then.

Under hood, most of them are the same. I'm running AMS. I have nothing but good to say.

Shift knob is highly opinion. I love my JDM Ralliart, but good luck finding another one as I don't think Ralliart makes them anymore. .... did a quick search and found one. If I were you I'd jump all over this:

I have the TWM Phantom Hybrid shift knob. TWM makes a ton of shift knobs.

I picked up a works short shifter kit, base bushings and cable bushings, still using the stock knob. Shifting is much improved, sometimes its so smooth it feels like it didn't even go into gear.

So you guys think that ralliart shift knob would be a good choice and "heavy" enough to improve the shifting?

I got the car from Oak Lawn Mazda and actually got in touch with the guy who used to own it. He said he wanted an m3 but settled for the evo, but then a nice m3 came up at oaklawn so he traded for the evo about 2 weeks after getting it. He also noted he hated the shifting.
