Corvette to Evo
if your girldfriend usually dress in miniskirts, please get an evo.
it is easier to get her in and out without a crane like the vete
and still you will enjoy scaring her the same way.

I haven't driven a C6, but I have driven a few other Corvettes. Like everyone else is saying, it's a totally different animal but both are fun. A lot of fun.
Go drive an Evo. I don't think you'd regret making the trade.

I bought my C6 because my '08 evo was a little slow. I tuned it, that helped, but it isn't in the same league.
The evox can run at 98% on the street because the sawc is very well done. the vette can only run past 90 percent on the track, but it is a lot more satisfying if once you are in that environment.
Basically the thing that made me boot the evo off of my roster was the operating cost. Most expensive car I ever owned. Insurance was ridiculous (I'm 40 too).
I currently only own cars with a minimum of 400 hp. the evo had less, but it was so good on the twisties, i had to get rid of it before i lost my license.

I got rid of my c6 because it was a lil slow. :-) My operating costs are high.... only bc I have a problem with mods.
Although both are performance cars, stock for stock, they are two very different answers for how to go fast. I traded in my extremely clean 04 Z06 for my MR. The Evo gives you more confidence in the corners and the seats are much better in keeping you from moving all over the place. That doesn't mean the Vette is not capable in the corners, just that the Evo makes it more easily accessible. Coming from a responsive N/A engine, it took me some time to get use to boost/lag.
I miss the sound of the V8 and power but still no regrets.
On thing though, as mentioned already, I would never buy a used Evo unless I saw detailed maintenance/historical records for a virgin stock car
For what it's worth, I have no power mods but at this point in my life, Evo is the right car - performance, looks/style and adequate room.
The day I picked up my X...

I came from a 350 whp Evo VIII which makes about the same power to the ground my 05 vette does. The torque curve on the vette is like a park bench, just pulls and pulls untill you bounce off the limiter. The evo came onto the boost HARD making it a blast to drive. I was bored of the vette's power after the first month.
I have a kid on the way so i'm going to pick up a 10-11 X this spring and go from there. Throw on an exhaust, intake and tune and you are looking at 320 whp or so, plenty to keep up to a vette through the twisties.
The handling in the Evos is so much sharper as well, or at least my 8 was. You will give up a little top end pull but the things are a blast to drive around in under triple digits.
