Corvette to Evo
Corvette to Evo
Hey guys,
I'm selling my 2009 Corvette C6 and I was wondering if you guys know if i'm gonna enjoy the evo or not, is it like a downgrade from the vette?
The one i'm thinking of getting is a 2010 evo with HKS exhaust, HKS BOV, K&N intake and AMS intercooler. Is it going to be a blast or am i gonna wish that i never sold my corvette?

Test drive the Evo and see if you like it. Evos are a blast to drive and will be much easier to take to the limit than your Corvette. That said, they are very different from each other. They are similar in the bang for the buck factor, but that's as far as it goes.
This was discussed in this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...evo-owner.html
I don't see the Evo as a downgrade, but rather a different direction to go. The Corvette being what it is, is a performance icon and has incredible performance. The Evo is more of a rally based car with exceptional handling in all weather conditions and a motor that is just begging to be modified. If I had my way, I would have one of each. The Evo probably would be a better all around driver for you if you plan on making it your daily driver. If it is just going to be a toy, I might keep the 'Vette instead.

I wouldnt buy an used evo. Unless it is really used and dirt cheap.
Two different car, but both is very fun in different car ways. The evo edges out the vette in versitality and all weather conditions.

The C6 has much more power (over 100 more stock vs stock), more grip, lower center of gravity and better balance, but the Evo has way more room and is much more practical as a daily car, especially if you drive in slippery conditions. In city traffic, the Vette will also have much better acceleration in casual driving. You'll need to rev the Evo to 4000 or higher to match the acceleration of the Vette shifting at 2500 rpm.
Very different cars...

I sold my C6 after I bought my evo x. Then I got a newer daily pickup as I need one occasionaly for work. Do i regret it? I dont regret getting an evo.... I do sometimes question if i bought the right evo though. The vette was fun for what it was, but i dont think Ive ever enjoyed driving a car as much as an evo. If i got back in a corvette, it would have to be a c6 z06.

I traded a 2001 Z06 for a 2003 Evo back in 2003. Sold the Evo and got 2003 Z06. Traded the 2003 Z06 in for another Evo. 2 totally different cars but I don't regret it at all. One thing I do miss from the Z06 is being able to slide the a$$ end around with ease.

both cars are listed on FORBES "top 10 sports cars ever" article, so i definitely wouldn't consider that a downgrade by any means. they're 2 different cars, however. as SamsonEvoX said, i'd love to have 1 of each.
^ no. Get the '13 shellby if you wanna go "muscle" route. ZL1 is a terrible idea.
Evo is a different type of a beast than the vett. You will have a lot of fun with the evo. A very basic comparison I like to use for awd (evo/sti/gtr) to RWD v8's is that the awd cars are more like "look how much I can push this car and it still wont give up" whereas for me the rwd v8's are, "oh boy better be careful or she will bite my ***".
Both give you adrenalin thus fun. Just different ways of getting you there

To threadstarter: I went from an Evo x to a CTS-v then back to an Evo x. The V8 is fun to play with, yes, but the responsiveness of the Evo is so nice. Plus 22 mpg is nice.
As for handling, Evo will kill the vette in most aspects. Straight line goes to Vette. However, an Evo X modded with the parts you mentioned (and a good tune, get the Cobb Accessport) can hang with it. Throw some bigger injectors and E85 on top of the existing parts and you'll kill it.

ZL1 shares the same Magnetic Ride control that ZR1, CTS-V and some Ferraris have.. I don't think it's a terrible idea

I went from '05 C6 to my 2010 GSR, I guarantee that there will be aspects of the Vette you will miss deeply. However, the overall practicality of the Evo - being able to drive in any weather condition, being able to take more than 1 passenger, and being able to drive over mini speed bumps without coming to a full stop and traversing over it at a 45 degree angle - to name a few, will make the Evo a good choice.
And with the right parts and tune, the 400HP of your vette can easily be had. Good luck in your decision!
