MR Vs GSR
It really depends on you hp goals not everyone is shooting for 500 or more. MR is fine for me cuz I don't plan on ever going over 400 and even then I'm sure some breakthroughs with the tranny will have happened to help push the numbers higher.
From what I have read on the modding front, the GSR is the way to go. That transmission is solid and will hold up to a lot more abuse/power than the SST.
Not saying the SST isn't great or isn't by any means capabile. The manual transmision is just stronger.
Plus the GSR is about 100lbs lighter I believe and can genearate slightly better performance numbers due to the weight difference (other than factors that include shifting speed)

quick story about shifting.. and the MR SST
a buddy of mine has a gen coupe v6 supercharged with a low'ish boost 7-10psi.. doing like 380hp or so hp.. my MR is nearly stock with cobb ap.. in the 1/4 mile @ 1150m above sea level i'm running 13.426 with launch control.. he was running 13.6 13.8 all night..
As fast as somone thinks they can shift.. the sst does a freeking great job with shifting + no boost loss.
obviously if you have a GSR with mega power and supurb shifting you can be in the 11's or less...
but i'm just saying that when going agaisnt cars with similar power with even a great driver.. the MR does have a slight advantage in the shifting department.
ps little trick instead of letting launch control shift for ya at red line.. set the cobb AP up so it flashes at ya around 5800rpm.. by the time you tap the shifter you'll shift around 6800 ish.. which seems like it's a tiny bit more boost.. as it tapers way down at 7+k rpm.. I seemed to get about a 10th faster doing this than just letting the auto handle all the shifting.

I have the SST and l love it. My wife loves it to because she hates driving manual. lol. I do want to do more power but slowly I will get there. Hopefully when i'm ready for bigger turbo they will have more options by then. I know SSP is doing great work with it. Just waiting for more reviews on it.
off topic...between MR and GSR, does anyone know how much is the difference in maintaining or replacing an SST as compared to a regular clutch? Can someone please give some numbers? If replacing a clutch cost xxx, how much for SST? Thank you.

I think it comes down to if you want to row your own gears or mod for big power get the GSR...
If you want a good daily driver or want a dual clutch transmission... get an MR.
