I pay around $101 per month on my '08 evo gsr and my silverado through Farmers. My deductibles are fairly low as well. It may help that I pay annually as well.

That's what insurances look at. evo is nothing but a high end sedan to insurance companies. Hell, I got safety discount on the evo since there's about 10 airbags on the evo x.
Age wouldnt have anything to do with it because the 2012 STI is about $100 a month. Infact, its cheaper than my 08 Eclipse.

But

The Evo is over $300 a month. Same person, same location, same age. Its because of the Evo in my area for whatever reason.

Thats why I said what I said, when members just tell you $60 a month with USAA it doesnt help.
Actually knowing what AREA, LIMITS, Endorsements, daily miles etc will yield a far better analysis of the cost.
I tried to help i wasnt angry at you.
I was saying that unless people post the other info it helps 0%. I bet more than half of these super low quotes have limits of 25/50k and no rental and no uninsured motorists. Not to mention my neighboors have bentles and lambos, so my carrier knows based on my zip that if I get in an accident and its my fault their risk is MUCH higher. There are more factors age and exp.

Seems like just about every single person posting is missing the point of the thread.

As for the OP, are you looking at the wagon STI? It might be the body style that affects the rate difference.

I cannot understand why they are coming back with over $400 a month. And I dont understand why the STI is only $32 more a month. Im getting a quote right now with Statefarm just to see what they say. If they are significantly cheaper than USAA then I might make a switch to Statefarm in the future. Ill keep ya'll updated.

I am still kind of shocked with the price quote. If a 300hp Evo is that much a month, how much will a Vet or 5.0 Stang be? geez
Regarding Evo X insurance: depends on a number of factors. Your driving history, geographic location / market, coverage limits, etc. I just got a quote for auto insurance from USAA and they were higher than my current carrier. I was surprised (yes, I'm a veteran).

Now .. about the Vette or the Mustang: A new Mustang will cost more to insure. A Certified, pre-owned Porsche 911 (2010), about the same or a little less than the Evo X.

But all that is moot because I don't live in Texas. USAA has a great product, but they don't always beat the competition on price in every market.

my premium went from $230 a month with progressive to $100 per month with USAA.

USAA is awesome and can rarely be beat.

Well I just got off the phone with them. They are going to have "under writing" check into this and get back with me by Tuesday.

This thread and USAA phone call has not really been because the insurance is so high. I was more shocked that the Evo was over $300 a month and the STI was only $100 a month.

They cannot give me an answer yet as to why this is. They admit to not insuring the car often. Its safe to say that Evo and STI owners are a small minority. So as an example, USAA in this area may have insured 3 Evo's as of lately. Lets say two of them got totaled.

They then may have insured 3 STI's as of late. Maybe all 3 of them are still on the road driving around. Its hard to say for sure. But if its similar to this example, it will explain why the EVO's rate is jacked up. The amounts ofcourse are generated with statistics and probabilities. What I have asked underwriting to do is to stop and take a closer look into this.

If the EVO is so rare on the USAA insurance coverage, then they should look at the quote more closely and with a more human nature. Dont look statistically cause the lower the number insured for that model, the possible higher the rate. Hopefully they come back with the similar $100 STI quote.

Also, Im glad this did happen cause it has caused me to shop around were as before I was very content with USAA. But talking to them today, my insurance is schedule to increase with my next renewal. Apparently in my area (San Antonio) there were more pay outs than revenue brought in. Because USAA lost money last year in this area, and because other people cant drive for ****, I have to pay more money.

And this is why other insurance companies can be cheaper and why even a good company like USAA may not be the best choice. My driving record may get me a little cheaper insurance, but it does not matter overall. If other people cause that insurance company to lose money, then you have to pay for it. So I guess Im going to call around and get more quotes. Maybe one of the other insurance companies in my area didnt lose money last year and can give me a better rate. Such a shame. I have had USAA for 5 years now. No tickets or accidents at all (knock on wood). I have not caused this company to loose a dime on my behalf. But my rates will be going up cause of other people. And I cant get my Evo (if I have USAA) cause of other people. Nature of the beast I guess.

I pay 120 a month for my 10 tundra and 12 sonata. 250/500/100 coverages with 250 comp and 500 collision deductible VA. I called liberty mutual for a quote to replace the tundra truck with a new evo. $1400 a year increase!! I said wtf. I'm 29, clean record, married and all my home stuff is with these people. I called directly to my agent yesterday and said man that rate is rediculous. He said yea, something's not right. My renewal is coming up in March. He said they used the old computer system for that quote. He said I'll call you back in ten minutes. My new rate keeping coverages the same...... 118 a month for the evo and sonata So I'm going sat to pick it up if all the pricing works out.

I haven't quoted and STi but mine would go up 70 a month with an EVO. Insurance is a big factor in my search for a new car. Of note I can insure a my cx9, sentra and a r32 for 3 dollars more($191) than just an EVO and the cx9($188).

edit: STi is $45($143) less a month than the EVO. I live in Georgia. I guess there are more claims for EVOs

Whats sad is I have had USAA for about 5 years. I have paid about $175 a month. This adds up to about $10,000 that I have paid out to them. In return they have not had to pay 1 cent for an accident on my behalf. But they still want to quote me about $350 for the EVO.

I then call up StateFarm. I had them for about 10 months when I owned my bike. I paid $100 a month for the bike. In all I had paid StateFarm about $1000 bucks. My bike was stolen and Statefarm had to pay me over $9000 for it. So I cost StateFarm about $8000 dollars. And they even came in over $100 cheaper than USAA.

I was quoted a $30 higher than my current payment for an EVO, so that is crazy
