Looks like no Evo for me

I was debating on getting an Evo. I just called USAA and got an insurance quote. I currently pay $188 a month for full coverage for my Eclipse and Outlander Sport. If I was to trade in the Outlander Sport for an Evo, my insurance will go up to $432 a month. An increase of $244 a month. I plan on getting a couple of more quotes but have a feeling they will be around the same. USAA has pretty good insurance and comparable rates.

But get this......

I have also been thinking of getting a STI instead of an Evo. Im not really into racing and modding and feel the STI is a better DD. I also like that it has fold down back seats and 6 speeds. So I have them quote me on a 2012 Subaru STI sedan. It comes in at $220 a month for my eclipse and the STI with the same coverage. So the STI will be an increase of $32 a month.

This makes absolutely no sense to me. Perfromance wise I would say the Evo is better than the STI. But not by much (stock comparisons). Why would there be such an difference in insurance coverages? Is it a theft thing maybe? Is alot of young kids getting the Evo's and crashing them? I have an excellent driving record and pretty good credit. I have also been with USAA for many years and have my home owners, personal value insurance, multiple cars, etc through them. They say the rate for the Evo isnt high because of me. Its just the rate in my area for some reason.

Im a little bummed. I guess Im either going to get a WRX or STI or I'll keep my Outlander Sport.

My understanding is insurance also really depends on your area. And not just state level. But city as well. You would think a large city will have higher rates than a small country town. When I went from Texas to Louisiana my insurance almost doubbled in price.

There is also a high theft rate here in my city. I had my motorcycle stolen less than a year ago. So maybe its just high here. I will get some other quotes and update. Its just crazy though that my quote Eclipse/Evo compared to Eclipse/STI is a difference of $212 a month.

Thats what I'm saying. USAA has always come in with excellent rates. The craziest thing is the difference in price between the 2012 STI and 2012 Evo. I just dont understand. And neither did USAA. Thats what the system says it is, then that is what it is.

I guess I need to get out of San Antonio Texas and move to Wisconsin.

1. are you in the ghetto?
2. Do you drive 2 miles a week?
3 What are you limits.

82 a m month with 3 cars on the policy seems CRAZY or you have minimum limits?

I hate insurance threads. Just saying the amount you pay a month is worthless. You should tell us your limits too. If it is state minimum, then yes you will have low insurance premiums, but if you have higher limits it starts to increase quickly.

Try shopping around for insurance. I went from 350 a month to 130 for full coverage on 06 evo and 2011 outlander sport. Statefarm to progressive.

USAA has always had pretty good rates and coverage for me. As stated, i was/am paying $188 a month with full coverage, uninsured motorists, $250 deductible/etc for my 2008 Eclipse Spyder and 2011 outlander Sport.

I cannot understand why they are coming back with over $400 a month. And I dont understand why the STI is only $32 more a month. Im getting a quote right now with Statefarm just to see what they say. If they are significantly cheaper than USAA then I might make a switch to Statefarm in the future. Ill keep ya'll updated.

I am still kind of shocked with the price quote. If a 300hp Evo is that much a month, how much will a Vet or 5.0 Stang be? geez

Got everythang in my momma name, but I'm hood rich la da da daa

Just kidding, but seriously. Geico wanted $2k for 6 months that had to be paid in full before coverage and I was only eligible for liability. Insurance companies are ruining America. It's kinda of like the SAW movie with the umbrella corp.
