Well at least I know that there are places that have it far worse than I do.

The one thing people don't realize about hybrids and battery powered cars is that they are worse for the environment then gasoline powered vehicles. There are a lot of precious metals that go into the batteries and fuel cells which pose a larger negative environmental impact. Also the amount of energy necessary to recycle a hybrid greatly surpasses the carbon foot print that these cars are trying to offset. A lot of people are misinformed about the savings that come from these vehicles and the auto industry really doesn't care to correct that cause at the end of the day they just want to makes sales and hybrids are the trend right now.

I live in Denver and the emissions check points only matter if your car "passes" as you drive by. You do not get in trouble if your car "fails", it just means you have to go get it actually tested on the dyno as usual. It is supposed to make life easier so that not everybody has to go get emissions every 2 years. If you drive by them 2 times before your emissions is due and "pass", then you don't have to go get it done. That is all it is for. I have a test pipe and I drive by them all the time. It isn't so bad.... I just go get my car tested every 2 years with stock exhaust.

I read a article about the Hummer vs the Prius and it came to the conclusion that the Prius is worse for the environment when you take production to disposal into consideration. Not sure how true it is. I tend to believe man made global warming is a hoax. Maybe my logic is flawed but the earth warmed and cooled before man was here. In the end there has to be a happy medium. It can't be GO GREEN at all costs. It will make life too expensive and boring. But I tend to think it isn't so much about global warming as it is about controlling peoples lives. The nanny syndrome. There are a lot of things I don't like out there. I don't smoke. But I would never vote for anti smoking laws. Just because I don't do something doesn't mean I want to take that freedom away from somebody else. It's a slippery slope. You give the government an inch of control and they take a mile. Sorry this turned into more of a political type debate, but in the end this stuff is important for all of our hobbies. There is nothing more the green people want than 10$ a gallon gas to keep you out of your car. Well we already see the results of their work. The next Evo may be a hybrid.

Poo even F1 is supposedly going to battery power in pit lane in a few years. That will end up killing somebody. Nothing like a car doing 60 mph with no sound as you are running across pit lane.

^Well said, sir!

FWIW my ETS HFC passed the dyno sniffer test, so it is a great choice for those who don't want to do the emission test shuffle back to stock cat.

If people really wanted to help the environment then they would just buy used cars instead of new ones that need factories running, textiles produced, and metals made to produce them. Buying a Prius is just an easy way to look down at others around you... that is until you throw that giant battery in the trash and buy another one.

Where I live they only do OBD-II checks. So if you aren't throwing any codes you'll pass inspections. No smog check FTW

But if I ever move back to Cali... I'm screwed
