The question was asked why do more owners not use OEM, vs the Redline that is being discussed in this thread. I was contributing the price of OEM vs half of that to a fill up of Redline.

So what is the correct oem fluid number for our trannys and how many qts etc.
I called up another local mitsu deal and they told me to run diaqueen lsd gear oil in the diff and the transmission, they told me that there wasn't a specific transmission oil to use. I just shook my head.

You can find all the types and fluid amounts here . It also in the stickies

yea I just switched mine out to redline fluid a little over a week ago. I too was expecting an immediate and exagerated difference. It was slightly smoother at first but as I put more miles on it ~250 it got a bit smoother shifting and engagement. I just got my car back last night from having the AMS CMC upgrade installed along with their gate selector and underhood shifter bushings and the difference is massive. Alot of people noticed a big difference in their shifting feel when they remove the clutch line restrictor pill and I think that's also one part of why my car feels so great now. I mean it's not buttery smooth but it definitely doesn't grind or feel generally unpleasant anymore. Now it is a very precise, direct and mechanical feeling shift.

I also got SS brake lines installed and now my pedal placement & feel are much different too, combined all of this has made for much smoother shifts, easier rev matching and an overall smoother driving experience. The amount of force it takes to put down the clutch actually feels softer and smoother than before too. The clutch engagement is different too it is much more linear and predictable. Overall I'm very happy and still planning to get the shifter base bushings. but no short throw shifter because I've been told by several reliable sources how hard they are on the trans.

How are they bad on the trans? It's just a lever. It functions the exact same way as the stock one just shorter.

I don't know, I was planning to get one and install it along with the rest of the stuff but I was told by several highly reliable sources (two of which are vendors who I was about to purchase an SS from) that they are hard on the trans, and generally advised against. Conversely it seems like the consensus among individuals on the various forums that have them is that they are great and don't cause any issues, that they really help with the feel, position and obviously shorter throws.

But I'm now really happy with my setup, could the throw be shorter sure. But I've been advised not to get one and I figure that money could go towards something else like rsb & rck.

Your missing out bud. Its like night and day with the shifter, but go with your gut and do whats right for you.

ive called ams twice about their shifter bushings and have been shot down both times by them all they say is the bushings will just make the shifting feel stiffer and sometimes even notchier and thats it, how can they say that about their own product?

That's weird, they are one of the people who advised me against the SS but did recommend the bushings and the CMC upgrade. I would agree that it does feel sort of stiffer, it's like more direct and a sort of harder feeling. Not really smoother and buttery compared to before but it feels much more like it is going right where it should instead of having difficulty. Still definitely not the nicest shifting trans I've ever felt but much improved.

yea I'm still really tempted to get one, I looked at the TWM ultimate shifter setup and tons of other shifter options before deciding not to get one. I'm planning on getting a jacks or shep trans with the longer final drive hopefully this summer so I may just throw in the SS and base bushings while I'm at it.

i have a TWM kit but the short throw shifter. But all the bushings and the cage. feels much more dirrect and precise, i will track test it this weekend. But i certainly recommend to get it if you like racy shifter feel. I am doubt i will have a dfferent opinion after a weekend, since i was driving around this week and really felt good.

I have heard that the under hood metal bushings forare actually what's bad for the trans. You are better off going with the Works which is a hard rubber but still allows for rhe dissapation of vibration an impact better. The OEM ones at garbage.
