Vortex generator is it worth it?
. I was going about 80 on the freeway, heard a loud noise on my roof, then I saw half of my VG on the side of the road. I'm not going to replace it...-Izzy
i have had the rexspeed duckbill spoiler on my car for a while now. When i installed it I used rubbing alcohol to clean the trunklid before applying the spoiler with 3m tape. After that taped down the spoiler with blue painters tape to keep pressure on the spoiler and the trunklid. It needs to cure for a few hours to make a good bond with the surface.
The same goes for the vortex generator, if you stuck it down without cleaning it, small dirt/dust particles will eventually loosen up the tape and then it will fly off. If its a nice warm day it will cure nicely sitting in the sun.

With regard to the panel-type sets of VGs, such as that from RexSpeed, which can get ripped off the car by wind (probably because of that horrible front edge to the panel), why not go with individual VGs, such as those sold for semis, which do not have a front lip, because they are not all on one panel?
(sorry about that sentence....)

Advantages to this type of VG is that its cheap to buy, has less drag than the panel type, has the proper shape and height (according to the Mitsu VG paper, at least) and you can set the angles the way you want. They also won't rip off at speed, and if you want to get rid of them, they can be removed easily using the same method you would use to debadge a car.

Nice.
But now I gotta ask: why weren't the middle two placed a bit further out? They are probably in the wash from the antenna. A quick string-tuff test would verify (or, I'll admit, disconfirm) that this was a mistake.

If I were to link this very interesting thread to the rather pathetic "women can't drive" thread by making some comment about females not being able to judge distances because they keep getting told that some small object is really 8" long, would I be banned?
Rofl most likely. Don't go there.
