Was not impressed with the Stock Evo X
Both my son and I have 2011 Evo X GSR's. Neither seemed sluggish. Fast? No. But, they are still pretty quick. I would not say that they are much slower than a IX stock for stock. They are however, larger in size and they have more mass, which kind of makes it seem like it is slower. I love my X and they do respond to mods well.
I consider my stock Evo X extremely fast and I'm happy with it, but again it's all about what cars you are comparing it too.
The Evo X feels slow as hell from the factory. It's a fast car, but it certainly doesn't FEEL like a fast car. My SRT-4 and Mazdaspeed 3 felt way faster than the Evo X, but in reality they are all about the same in a straight line. The reason the Evo X feels so slow is because the factory settings have the max horsepower peak at like 4,000 RPMs. So after 4k, the actual acceleration rate stops increasing.
I was absolutely disappointed with my car until I got it tuned. Now the horsepower peaks at 7,000 RPMs, and it throws you back in the seat and scares the living **** out of anyone who hasn't rode in it before.
So basically, yes, the car feels slow because the factory tune is pig rich and has really low-RPM hp/torque peaks. If you do get an Evo X (which I highly recommend lol), get it tuned, and it will absolutely blow you away. I gained 53 HP after the tune with no mods except catback exhaust. Until you get it tuned, it will feel slower than an VII or IX or most other performance cars in the same class, even though it is a fast car.

stock Evo X feels fast for those who've never driven faster cars... in your case, an Evo feels like a stock Civic Si lol... a friend of mine's 500whp X feels VERY freaking fast, and he's constantly pulling on stock GT-Rs, but even still it doesnt feel as crazy fast as my friends GT-R... It really is the weight of the car imo... and when compared to my friend's IX, its also much confier so it feels much slower... like, the power is there, and you feel it only after it's done delivering it... it doesnt have that isntant "bite you back" feeling... I'm guessing is the stock ground clearance maybe as someone mentioned? idk!
my X picked some nice power with the Cobb flash which is the only thing I've done to it thus far, but the main difference is highway pickup, which sucks big time in stock form... with a simple flash what Ive noticed is 5th rips from 80 to 110mph-ish in very little time... HUGE, huge difference from stock!
just get one already and start modding it
i need 2 start modding mine already as well

LOL, coming from a Z06 a stock Evo X feels like a turd. I drove my 430 RWHP 02 Z06 to test drive my Evo. I could not believe how slow it felt in comparison. A few mods will help that problem out.
