Tomei Exhaust too loud??

Hey everyone, Im contemplating letting go my T1R exhaust and possibly getting a Tomei, But my concern is the noise from the exhaust might be unbearable for DD and not being able to have my son in the back seat.
Can some Tomei owners chime in to give some insight on this situation and maybe help me avoid a possible regrettable purchase..
Im considering having the Silencer on most of the time DDing and when at car meets/cruises having it open,(running a test pipe also) Im also considering the Litespec if its quieter.

Thanks for reading

I believe the Tomei is Jasma spec which means by Japan regulations it has to be under 93db.

The T1R is a Dual and should be quieter, it also has a mid pipe resonator.

The Tomei is a straight back, thin wall, single canister... its going to be louder.

nope^.

If you have the stock downpipe/cat its not that loud from the inside. It's definitely loud with a full downpipe/ test pipe.
Litespec titanium is a cheaper poorer made version of the Tomei titanium. The weld quality is noticeable if you have them side by side. It also won't be any quieter.
If you want quiet look for exhausts with large resonators.

I just installed a test pipe with the tomei exhaust and coming from stock it's definitely a lot louder. I haven't driven it too much yet since I'm waiting to get a tune, but I'm not sure I would want my niece and nephew in the backseat with it.

Whats wierd about the tomei it isnt that loud when daily driving. That being said when i go into parkaids, the rumble sets off car alarms. But you can hear louder cars go through and nothing.

I have a AMS Widemouth DP, T1R Resinated TP and the Tomei Expreme and love it...heres a few videos.

Based on the videos, its not bad at all. When I had a UR dual exhaust w test pipe and eventually a HFC and it was just stupid loud. It got really annoying on long trips. I only had it for 3 months before i got rid of it.

You'll hear a lot of people talk about how loud it is, but I think it's about average. I was worried when I put mine on, especially living in CA, but don't think it's loud at all. It does set off car alarms with the rumble on skinny SF streets, but that is more due to the angle I think more than anything.

Conclusion: It's louder than stock, but nothing I'm concerned about with while driving. Never installed the silencer, and no plans to.

Its just plain loud....but not obnoxiously loud. The exhaust note is excellent....just on the loud side. On the other hand, the exhaust is super quiet with the silencer installed.

Oh...also with the silencer off, the exhaust is quieter cruising under 65 mph and above 80 mph...

+1. Even my 15mo old daughter loves it. The exhaust note puts her right to sleep.

maybe hearing one in person with be the best deciding factor, I might be putting my T1R on the forsale section if i get to hear a Tomei and think its not too loud in the backseats.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but for those saying it's really loud, what previous cars did you come from? It is an average sound for an aftermarket exhaust coming from the rx-7 world, and a being around a bunch of domestics. If anything, it is a bit quieter than my friends' v8s.

Edit: For reference, I thought stock was unbelievably quiet.
