Unhappy Tough Desicion...

So I'm facing a small dilemma...for my birthday my wife said I could get my extra parts installed and retuned OR I could get a clutch...I have cams, 1000cc injectors and a fuel pump just chillin in the garage to be installed and re-tuned but honestly how much power will I gain from them? I have a feeling that if I add those that it's going to be the straw that breaks the camels back (my STOCK clutch )....Currently the clutch is not slipping and works just fine but I have that weird feeling as soon as I get more power it's gonna **** the bed. Buying a clutch/flywheel isn't too expensive but the labor $$$ is insane (quoted $900 for install, heard it's normally $800-1100)....what would you guys recommend?

How many miles on your car. I say install your stuff and get your tune. Don't launch it and I think you'll be fine. Normal people daily driving should get between 40-60k out of a stock clutch.

Clutch, flywheel, and install should be around $1400ish

62k...never launched it due to the diff pins....higher miles b/c it was my DD for a long time and my take the family everywhere car...now it sits in the garage all nice and waxed as I roll in the 2001 Kia Rio hahhahha! As for the clutch/flywheel I got a good deal from one of hte vendors for $735 for Comp Clutch stg2.5 and ACT Streetlight flywheel...but then I have to pay for the install....how much power can I expect from adding cams and injectors tho? my stock injectors are pretty much at max duty cycle which isn't good

You can expect a pretty decent jump. Are you putting in new springs and retainers as well?

I know the 4G63 and 4B11 are different engines, but you can use this as comparison. On my IX with a turbo back, walbro 255lp, AMS front mount and piping with TiAL bov I put down 302.5awhp. After I added the Cosworth 272's with single springs and retainers I was at 382awhp on 91 pump gas and 23psi.

Do the clutch first.

I say go for the upgrades first. It's your birthday afterall. If by chance the clutch goes out then your wife will have no choice but to get you a new clutch unless you can post up the car for awhile.

Don't forget a CMC upgrade kit also to avoid future headaches if the plastic one takes a dump with the new pressure plate.

Pssh! You don't need a clutch if you don't drive like a moron. I'm 31k miles, bigger turbo, 420whp vd, and my stock clutch is fine. I boost WOT often, but don't launch.

Replace clutch when it goes out, not before.

Even though you have twice the miles as Noize, I agree with him. Who knows if your clutch will slip or not, if it is fine than don't worry about it.

I would go injectors and cams. You could prolly get around 30-40whp or so..

Go with a clutch. I only have 12,500km on my car and few trips to the drag strip/road course and she's on her way out. Started slipping the other day but it doesnt help im throwing 423hp 382lbs of torque at it..lol.

Does anyone buy used, stock clutches? I'm guessing either NO or they go for really cheap. If that's the case, might as well add power and have fun, just be ready to make that call to AAA when your clutch goes. If you can get some money for yours then might as well put that towards the new one.

BTW...why is this the wife's decision?

Someone is whipped! The ole ball and chain. Upgrade the clutch, then add power.
