EvoX Time Attack

So yesterday was the opening day of time attack here in Edmonton. This is the 2nd time i been on the track with the Evo but the first time with my new setup. For those that dont know my mods are...

Ball Bearing FP Red, ported, hiflow oil feed line, 25psi WGA
FIC 1100cc injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
AMS UICP
AMS LICP w/ TiAL QR bov
AMS CAI
ETS 4" IC
AMS Widemouth DP
T1R Resinated TP
Tomei Expreme exhaust
TWM STS, cage replacement, full bushing setup, weighted shift knob
Perrin Rear Sway Bar
Perrin Rear Endlinks
SSP Underpanel
Motul RBF600 brake fluid
AMS SS Brake Lines
MT-85 Tranny Fluid
94 Octane
Clipse3GT Tune

Now lately i been having issues with either the clutch or the tune. Thats still being determined whats the cause. Little backround story. Tune was nearly done, i made 423whp 382trq on VD @ 27psi. Kris was almost done with the tune, he was just smoothing the boost and AFR. Since my underpanel ripped off about a month ago from snow, my air filter was getting pretty dirty. I orderd the SSP and before it arrived i decided to clean the air filter. Soon as i reinstalled it the car started having issues. I would do my normal runs in 3rd gear at 2000rpm. When i get to 24psi or so, the rpms would drop 200rpms then carry on like normal. It does this in every gear at any rpm. It's also slowing my turbo down by 400rpm. Kris says its the clutch slipping but i had 3 guys come for a ride in my car (2 of them being evo owners and knowing their ****) and all 3 guys said its not clutch.

Anyways, besides that issue the car ran like a champ. Last year with just a TP, i ran 70.3. This year my goal was to get into the 68's. My fastest lap was 67.9. In my run group was a 05 Viper with headers, midpipe, exhaust, tb and a tune, 08 Viper ACR and a Z06 Corvette. Although they were all in different classes. I ended up passing both vipers and the corvette.

It took awhile to get use to the car. Since i had the rear sway bar the car wanted to oversteer alot more. Since i had 423hp, i was flying into the turns alot faster. Last year i would come into turn 2 at 145kmh and use the 3rd braking marker but not going aggressive at all. This year i was hitting it at 190kmh and tried the 3rd marker but almost flew off the track. I had to brake at the 4th marker. So more aggressive brake set up is being orderd. Also since my tires were getting pretty low on life (stock tires with 2 track days and 13,600km on them), ill be getting new tires. I'm picking up a set of Enkei PF01's (18X9.5 +22).

Anyways, heres some pics and videos.

My EvoX GSR

My buddy Seans MR and his friends Viper ACR

Me behind the ACR. Also note i was trying to get videos of passing each car. This was the only run i started behind the ACR. I was about to pass him but was running low on gas and ended up getting fuel starvation so i called it a day. I was so pissed!...lol.

The results (im the only evo in modified class)

Nice pictures and congratulations.

I might offer a couple of comments. One, this is a good post for the Motorsports section down below. Two, consider being more sensitive about posting other people's names and cars online. Irrespective of their times, they might be less comfortable having that information posted without their permission.

You should run NASA TT. Very competitive and I think they have some events near you.

Thanks. I'm rarely on this forum so i didnt even notice the other section..lol. If the mods want to move this to there, they can. Also i've talked to both Viper drivers and neither of them have a issue with it. Both ran very good, especially the yellow viper. He went from 70-71 sec lap times to a 67.8 by the end of the day. The Viper ACR was also getting faster lap times but was still taking it easy. I'll check out that event.

Good deal.

My comment regarding posting names was less related to their times (or whether they were happy with their times) and more to the fact that not everyone wants the world to know they've been out racing their car. Insurance companies, spouses, neighbors, potential thieves all may take an interest in what kind of very expensive vehicle a person might own or race. Again, just a thought.

Yea the best part of the day was the battle between me and the STi.

1st Session = Evo 68.4/Sti 68.9
2nd Session = Evo 68.4/68.0
3rd Session = Evo 67.9/68.0
4th Session = Both took a break
5th Session = Evo 67.9/Sti 67.8

Just a constant battle all day...lol. He had boltons, bigger turbo, full suspension setup and completed gutted. He even took the sound system out.
