If i had the little lancer wing i would have taken it off but I got the high one so i left it onpluss I think the big wings looks good with the aero kit. Also it lets people know that you got a Evo not just a lancer.

Insideline did a track test to see how functional the wing is :

RESULTS:

Without wing - 1:25.99

With wing - 1:25.84
I think that .15 difference could be caused by anything. With that said, I'm not really sure if it would be more beneficial with the stock suspension setup and coil over setup helps reducing the effect of the wing..

then again this is not the taller wing so it might be more beneficial with the current generation/aero package wings

Car weighs less without spoiler. Less weight = better MPG is what they say. *shrug* I'm not a scientist so I couldn't say if it's true or not, and I think it's completely subjective.

The benefits of going wingless are.....
I didn't go wingless because I just bought the car and I actually like the spoiler. Although, on my IX I did go wingless and it felt like crap at higher speeds. Therefore, I put my wing back on and all was good.

If you take off the GSR spoiler, at least put the trunk lip spoiler on like the MR has. That will help with the downforce at higher speeds.

People aren't denying that deleting the wing will help mileage. We are merely calling BS on the idea that you'll gain "4-5 mpg." Maybe that guy simply forgot the decimal point(s). That's the most charitable reading I can come up with.

Agreed. I do know that in the automotive world it's an accepted formula to say 100 pounds off equal adding 10whp. At least that's what I've read in multiple articles. I know the stock wing doesn't weigh 100 pounds, though. LOL.
I'd imagine that shaving 100 pounds could equal 1 MPG gain based off of EPA estimates on vehicles that weigh 100 pounds less with a lighter wheel and tire option from factory.

I wish I had a track to use to test that on.

I'm not sure if the weight makes much of a difference with the mpg. But I might need ya'lls input to say for sure. I get:

-17mpg when stuck in traffic and city only
-19mpg with city driving but easy traffic
-21-22mpg with mixed city/hwy
-25 straight hwy

I have a stock 2012 GSR with wing......but.....I weigh almost 400lbs (please no fat remarks). My wife is small at about 130lbs but even with her and others in the car and my fat a$$, I am getting the above mpg.

Does anyone get better on a stock GSR? My mpg's seem to be better than what Mitsu advertises with the car. I wouldn't think my weight and the weight of others in the car will make hardly a difference on the mpg much less a wing added on it. Now track times sure. Just doubt the weight will make much if any difference at all.
