That is factually inaccurate, the MR (Mitsubishi Racing) has always been considered by Mitsubishi to be a higher trim level, that is their official position. In addition to the semi-auto transmission, the MR comes equiped with higher end Bilstein struts as well as BBS forged alloy wheels.

Even when Mitsubishi only offered manual transmissions in the VIII and IX, the MR was always the higher trim level, always coming standard with higher end parts (shocks, struts, wheels, 6 speed, HID, etc etc etc) differing parts depending upon the year.

I love my 2010 GSR. I would never trade it for MR. The feeling of shifting, no overheating issues, and a easy way of making WHP cheaper then the MR.

More airbags, bigger stronger chassis, heavier AYC differential, etc.

One thing I noticed is that when corner weighted, most of the weight gain is in the rear compared to a 9.

We have another thread to compare the two cars though.... you might want to go there for more info.

I had an VIII GSR that made 340whp and now I have X that makes 340 whp the VIII was slightly more fun to drive however the X handles significantly better. The X makes more power on just minor boltons but you need it more also. For instance my X just has intake a test pipe and exhaust to make the 340 whp but the VIII had an intake O2 housing back exhaust. Big intercooler, piping and cams. The X feels safer to drive and not so much like your driving a tinfoil box down the road. It is still a noisy rattle box of a car. I have yet to find a car I like better and I've driven plenty.

That all being said I also have an MR, and in sport mode it is a blast to drive. It is all stock and so being it is a little down on power from what I'm used too, however there is alot to be said for the SST. Either way you can't go wrong.

Not sure I would have been able to make that trade. Unless I really needed four doors.

Congrats on the purchase.

Due to a stupidity of the dealer I actually ended with a 2012 Evo MR and am loving the transmission.
I will try to post pics soon. The car is White with all available options.

What? Did you want a GSR but settled for an MR because the dealer made a mistake? Please elaborate.

I signed all the paperwork and was told that the car is in the LA harbor and will be delivered to my place the next day. By the end of the day next day I got a call, telling me that there was a mistake and the car was at San Francisco bay. Then I found out that the first car was not held for the dealer so they had found another in SF so I just took the White MR they had on their lot since I really did not want to wait much longer. I really do love the MR, yes you are more involved when driving the GSR (I have had many cars and most have been manual) but 99% of the people including myself can’t shift as precise as the Twin Clutch system does and on a daily drive it is better/easier to live with. Since the MR is more costly to mod, it will also keep me away from playing with it since I have a bad habit of going all out, losing a lot of money and running in to the usual issues with modding any car.
I am very happy with it and will enjoy it as is with the occasional track days at Willow. The MR is a perfect package for what I want to do with it and I would not change anything about it.
Only bad part is that now my wife loves driving it and when going somewhere together she makes sure to beat me to the driver’s seat.
