Dark exhaust in brand new 2012

Hello guys, got my 2012 new about a month ago. Has ~120 miles on it. While I was driving, my brother who was behind me told me when I pressed on the gas hard, a poof of black smoke came out of the exhaust.

Is this normal in the new Evolutions? I'm looking through the sticky right now

EDIT:LOL that was quick

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...st-thread.html

So it seems it is normal

just remember black smoke is "good" and white smoke is bad... its due to the rich factory tune

yeah OE tune is idiotically rich. Makes me wonder why mitsu didn't just put a better OE tune on it simply to boast better mpg ratings on the window sticker

You should have drove a '08 Evo if you think that the '11 and '12 tune is rich.

You should see it with a test pipe and aftermarket free flowing exhaust..

When I start my car in the morning it blows fuel all over my garage floor

It's definitely normal.

Maybe because the open-loop tune is irrelevant to claimed mileage on a window sticker...?
