your poll doesn't really make sense because you can only pick one option.....everyone changes their oil in the recommended interval

as for inquiring about who changes their oil for the summer or before road trips, yes, there are people who do that as well, but of course they will also stay on the typical interval as well..

I change mine in the spring (not DD in winter) and before each track event, so it is typically about every 2000 miles.

I think he meant Mitsubishi's recommended interval.

Also, "Everyone" is a pretty big assumption. I know people who have very bizarre oil changing habits. Religious 3000 mile changes (even when the manufacturer of both the car and the oil say it's not necessary) is one. The guys running crazy power probably should be changing it often, but if your X is stockish, 5000 miles is sufficient. I also know people who don't change their oil.

Send in your 3000 mile oil to Blackstone Labs some time and they'll tell you the oil is in great shape and has a lot of life left....

I run AMSOIL and change it every 4-5k miles or after every 2-3 track days. Whichever comes first.

i understand that, but i was just saying his poll needs to be changed if he wants any kind of sensible answer to his question. the question is "when do you change your oil" ...why do you think everyone only picked one choice.. (except the few people who only change their oil before taking road trips or once a year before the summer )

i actually am interested in this poll but think that a better range of choices would be:
A. Never
B. Shorter than recommended interval
C. Longer than recommended interval

oh and also... thread title 'what triggers you to change your oil' is a completely different question than 'when do you change your oil'

don't mean to be a dick but just trying to save op the confusion of why he won't have an accurate answer to his question...

Every 3,000-3,500 miles and always before a dyno re-tune session

Usually 6,000 miles on AMSOIL and OEM filter based on a blackstone analysis. Could go longer, but that's fine enough for me. I may change it sooner for a track day (before or after).
