A ****ing deer just hit the side of my car!

And it ****ED my car up! (excuse this thread also being on evoxforums)

I was getting on an onramp, going about 30-40 mph when it collided into the side of my car. I didn't even see it.

Ive heard the state of ohio is liable for deer collisions as long as deer hit YOU as in, the side of your car. Has anyone heard of this!?

I don't want to file a claim with my insurance because my rates will surely increase, and I have a $1k deductible. The sheriff that took the report had no idea about how I could go about going after the state of ohio...

Anybody have recommendations? hire an attorney? There is damage to the entire left side of my car!

Hire the attorney, sue the pants off that dear baby! ya!

Seriously, insurance claim. The state isn't going to give you cash because a deer hit your car.

Poor deer. Props to you guys if the state would pay you for your damages. Your states must not be in debt like we are out west.

Pfffft! In Oregon you'd probably get a ticket for the deer hitting you.

What all is messed up? It's hard to see the pics really good on my phone..

Is it just the fender? The bumper almost looks like it can just snap back into place. Is the hood messed up too? Looks like it might be..

I half agree with this. I agree that the idea that the state is somehow responsible for the actions of deer is laughable. However, I don't see the option of suing the deer as being viable, either. Deer are all related to Bambi (in a way that parallels our relations to each other via Adam and Eve). And Bambi works for Disney. And if you think that you can find a small-claims lawyer who will be willing to go up against Disney, then send me some of what you're smoking.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I doubt the state of Ohio (I.e. The taxpayers) is liable for the damages...that would be retarded IMO.

Also, an accident with a deer should be covered by your comprehensive insurance, not collision. Is your deductible $1k for comp also?
