clutch height! prob real quick answer!
clutch height! prob real quick answer!
Hi all just got a clutch job done on the X.
I am able to adjust it now, but would like to have it remain stock height.
Problem is that I forgot how it sits. Is it even with the brake pedal or ever so slightly higher?
If you picked "higher", if both pedals theoretically were placed on top of each-other, would there be any air gap?
Service manual says it is:
Standard value (C): 110 − 116 mm (4.33 − 4.57 inch)
from the clutch stopper on firewall to clutch stopper on pedal.
Problem is, it is a PITA to use a tape measure
Thank you!

hey there. there's a trasmission shop on here that has put out a detailed How to on cutch adjustment.. seems to me it's jacks transmission.
You'll want to do the maximum adjustment like how they do it. the engagement is right. when some shops do the job it still "grabs" even if you have the peddal pushed in all the way.
if your peddal is in all the way and your car creeps forward still. the engagement isn't set up right.
sounds like a big process..
looking for the link...

So is the pedal height even with the brake or sitting a little higher than the brake pedal?
I'm aware on the signs of improper disengagement already.
ONLY looking for height difference.

The clutch pedal sits about an inch higher than the brake. Or, if you prefer, the clutch, brake, and throttle are on a straight line.
I, for one, would not complain one bit if the clutch pedal were lower (as long as it still could fully disengage when pressed to the floor). The height of the clutch pedal is a total PITA for those of us who left-foot brake.

You stay on the gas at all times, to maintain boost. You slow the car by coming across with the left foot to the brake. By having one foot on each pedal, there's never lost time to moving your feet and you can gentle rock back and forth, more gas and less brake vs more brake and less gas, and have smooth control of the balance of the car. Plus, since we have a 50/50 center but a lot of front brake bias, being on both at the same time translates to more rear bias in the torque.
If you autocross, you really should be doing this. If you rallycross, you have to.
