Also, you couldn't put coilovers on the car and expect the dealership to cover any damage to the coilovers.

When it comes to insurance, most companies offer additional coverage for aftermarket parts. You just have to talk to your agent and get the mods covered. Make sure you get something in writing.
I understand your point and I am aware of the Magnusson-Moss Act (thanks to this site). But I have personally been through warranty hell with my Eclipse. And I am the original owner and the car is completely stock. I just know how Mitsu handles the honoring of warranties (in my area atleast).

Overall I think most warranty denials are because of the dealerships. But Mitsu seems to usually back the dealership. There are exceptions ofcourse. My Eclipse was an exception where this sh!tty dealership (Gillman of San Antonio) did not honor and Mitsu agreed to honor it. Ofcourse this took persistant phone calls from me

I just prefer not to give Mitsu or a dealership any excuse not to warrant me. And if they deny you and you feel they dont have the right in accordance with the MM act, you still will have to go the legal courts route. And that can be a big pain in its own right.

I also know of the insurance and covering additional parts. I wasnt sure if they did it with cars but assume some probably do. I know they asked me if I had additional expensive parts back when I had my motorcycle (which got stolen). People really drop some money in their bikes. But I see some ridiculous amounts being thrown around on this thread. If you have say an 08 GSR worth around $22k, I think it might be difficult to get an insurance company to cover you in $15k of aftermarket parts. Maybe if you have $3k-$5k. I dont know.

I like my Evo. But I hate Mitsu. And I dont have a desire to spend the kind of money others have. Like I said, I'd rather buy a hot tube amongst many other things.
