Engine build quote

Wondering if anybody can give me an idea of roughly how much I'd be looking at if I had a reputable shop install rods and pistons etc not including parts. I guess about how many hours you think I should be charged for?

So roughly $2k for rods, pistons, bearings, studs and install....well worth the peace of mind I suppose

Rktmotors. Give them a call and explain them what you need. They can give you a quote from first hand

For thar price of the build you will not get a piece of mind, rather nightmares...
Also you need gaskets oil etc, small items add on very fast to the final bill.

Go to a shop and get a quote. Make sure they factored in gaskets, o-rings, bearings, oil, coolant. Head, main studs and bearings are expensive too. You can compare their quote against an already built short-block from MAP. I'm just going through that. It's an eye opener.

I dropped my engine with trans attached to a machine shop. They gave it back to me the same way 2 weeks later with all new parts that I purchased for them. Never let the machine shop purchase the parts. They will get you overpriced items. One item my machine shop got me cheaper was the oil pump, about 100 bucks cheaper than anywhere online. They charged me around 1200 for bore/assembly.

When including new timing/balance belt, oil pump, water pump, bearings, rods/pistons, engine gasket kit, head studs, fluids, and other small items that you want to replace when refereshing your engine.

The cost ends up being close to 4K

The 4K is with you doing the labor of removal and re installation of the engine?

You could buy a built shortblock from MAP and send yours back as the core.

Yeap. If you want to add in the cost of the hoist I had to purchase from harbor freight. Another 200.00

the shop next door to the machine shop wanted 1200.00 for engine removal and install thats why I decided to do it on my own
