Hey guys quick question, possibly in the wrong forum but im not quite sure.

Anyways i have my headlights apart right now, and i want to plasti dip all the chrome pieces. I have everything off except the big chrome piece that holds the HID bulbs etc etc.

I dont want to take it off because of the alignment issues.

anyways my question is it safe to use painters tape to mask the inside of the bulb (meaning can the tape make contact with the bulb (circle lens) ) without it effin the bulb up?

I will be wearing gloves because i know the oils on our fingers can cause the lights to potentially mess up.

 

when you say "bulb" do you mean the HID (D2S) capsule? i don't think there is a chrome piece that holds this in. plus, you can't paint inside it because it's sealed.

if by "bulb" you mean the projector lens, the "chrome piece" is the projector shroud. not sure about our OEM HIDs, but usually these shrouds can be removed. if not, you can mask the lens with tape and paint away... just make sure you clean the lens really well before reassembly.

its the circular housing lens thing... its separate from chrome housing on the stock HID SSS package.

I just dont want to remove the chrome piece.

basically i just want to make sure its safe for me to put painters tape on the circular housing that covers the bulb itself.
