Any Idea What it is?
I'm pretty much new to this. I have a evo x and it seems to be making some weird noise like its grinding from the front especially when I apply little gas and let go instantly on first and second gear. I still get full power, and not losing anything. Do you experts think it may be the CV Axel? Anybody experience this>?
I havent experienced anything like that with my evo but if it was the cv u should be able to hear it when ur turning as well. Doesnt seem like a cv to me. Do u have any more info? Does it do it all the time or just sometimes? Does the sound change with speed or stay the same
Yes, a little more data will be helpful. Do you hear it just rolling along? Does it get louder when you turn the wheel? Is it louder is one gear over another?
Have you done normal stuff like checking your air pressure, check your CV boots for rips, swapped wheels around to see if the noise changes, etc?

At slow roll turns yes there are squeeky noises but not so loud where it can really be heard from afar. It mauy be the cv, i do see that the boot is loose and grease evidence around it.
After changing my ets intake back to stock intake I did loose the grinding noise when tapping my gas peddle on first and second. Reason I took off the ets intake is that I am throwing the check engine light with P1235 code. It did help out removing that grinding noise. The check engine light came on because I my evo was discharging access air i believe from the MAF readings, it happens when at full throttle at 4th or 5th gear and the evo will limp hard. Anything about this also?
My car wasn't tune with the ets intake but with the stock one. Since I put the stock back on will it goes back to normal if i waited a lil while?
Now I have another problem.

Ok, I'm a little slow - forgive me.
Attend to your CV boot. Which boot is loose and leaking? The one nearest the wheel or near the center of the car? There are two per axle (front wheels). If the boot is loose and leaking then you want to get that replaced and repacked right away before you lose all of the CV grease. That can certainly make a grinding noise that can change as the load changes (pressing/ releasing the gas pedal). Solve that, and see if the grinding goes away.
As to the other CEL issue and codes. What is the state of the car now? Stock intake? Does everything work well with the stock intake installed, no codes and such? Let's presume so. Then, take the intake and the car to the shop that tunes the car. (do this while they are fixing your CV boot and such). After the CV boot is fixed, have them check the car's tune on the dyno with the stock intake installed, ensure no codes, etc. Have them then install the ETS intake and tune the car again with that new intake.
You need to have the car retuned after you change/ add mods. Sorry, every time.

cv boot leaks towards the wheel on both. I am either replacing it or adding grease next week.
CEL comes one earlier with ets intake and thump or limp harder on 4th and 5th gear. With the stock intake CEL comes a little later thunp or limp i little smoother but still limping and CEL with I think is not good.
Would you think the fuel relay (upgraded to blue 1&1/2 year ago) is causing this or the fuel injector relay which I believe it the bigger plug in the fuse box?
Also if none of those, will getting it tune fix the problem that I'm dealing with?

If you tuned the vehicle towards the stock intake and then installed our intake, chances are that it's going to be running too lean. It's designed for the stock tune w/o tuning, or tuning the intake. If you lean out the factory maf housing and then apply our intake it's going to need a retune or factory tune to work properly.
thanks!

Don't add grease. Replace them.
I'd be surprised if it is the relay and suspect, as another post indicates, it's the tune and the car is throwing itself to limp mode. Pull your relays and shake them to check but I suggest you need a good tuner.
no grease, thanks...
Relays are good. After all the experiment I went through, I came to stock bov (used to be HKS SSQV), the ets intake. No limps no CEL.
I am guessing that the springs on the SSQV had worn out and can't hold up anymore. I didn't used the stock intake because the elbow that connect the hose from the stock intake to the side of the engine had melted off and I have been using a cheap rubber elbow from autozone in its place.
Is it safe to still run the ets intake for a month until tune since no limp and no cel came back?

Alright after a long time figuring what the noise comes from I finally got under my x myself and start looking for anything suspicious after reading a thread on engine mount. What i found is the bolt was missing from the engine mount under the header near the downpipe. Found a bolt and a nut that size and locked it in. No grinding noise was hear afterwards only small squeak when making slow turns. So i assume from engine moving around this cause to weaken my cv axle and eventually breaking it. I hope that this was not cause from the shop when i had my clutch change out.
On the other hand a tuning is to come soon to fix on running lean.
