But I'd assume that a BRZ STI would be out by then...

It will def be interesting to see. I doubt it will be much different in power though because if the hp were to go up significantly then the price point of the car would rise as well. Subaru and Mitsubishi are already having a tough time moving as many sti's and evo's as they would like because the average joe looking to spend 35-40k on a car usually ends up going with a BMW,Audi,or Mercedes, and not a high performance machine like ud get from and evo or sit.

I don't think that will be an issue. The problem with the Evo and STI is the fact that it still has clear roots to a ~$20,000 economy sedan. The FR-S/BRZ started out as a sports coupe, so it has fewer compromises from the get-go.

Which is exactly why I want one, only those in the know go for the evo

This is true, can you imaging a car that size, upgrade the tires a bit, throw the STI 2.5 in there? I'd like to see that against a mustang boss

Some publication (I think it was Car & Driver) already tested it with legit tires (Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs in stock size) and got really good results, which was already expected. But we're not going to see a 2.5 in there, as Subaru had already been testing the FB with a turbo (which is to first see duty in the next WRX) with power levels expected to be ~270 hp or so (if not higher, unless they purposely detune it further). It'll be entertaining, to say the least.

I feel like it's the 60s mustang of this era. Rear drive, good power, compact, affordable for the everyman. I wonder if this is going to start a big competition of lightweight, handling, 2 seat rwd cars.
