OP going from TT RS to Evo X is a different level ....you dont like the 335i or other german cars? Evo is very raw so not sure if u would like that... just go test drive it and see if u like it

Biggest thing I would think an Audio owner would find are the rattles and road noise that the Evo has. The Audi is more refined and the cabin is quieter.

Here's what I did to combat that:Originally Posted by TheBlade

I went through and dynamated or sound deaded the entire car including door panel and inside of doors. I replaced weak clips with screws. I used strip caulk, rivets for seams. I redid the entire stereo, went with a quieter exhaust (I've had 3 on this car alone LOL). I made real carbon fiber for my dash, seat rails, doors, pillars, rear pillars, and I'm about to make some for the center console. I just relocated the AC controls down by the cubby hole, and put three gauges in the AC bezel area. I also pulled the rear seat and put down a full layer of sound deadener under the seat, and some of the biggest road noise comes from a crevice that runs under the back seat by the fuel pump housing directly under the car. It's just a big open hole, presumably for fuel spillage or something, I don't know. Anyways, I filled most of that up, huge difference.

Glad the thread title was changed! For anybody switching from Audi to EVO I would want to make sure they drive the EVO first to make sure they can live with the lower level of refinement. I was worried about this before because I had a sporty Lexus before this car... but I was fine with the interior of the EVO.
Definitely anybody coming from an Audi should get the EVO X MR... so atleast you can get all the leather... more sound reducing material... NAV... etc. etc.
If you really enjoy driving... the performance of the EVO will blow you away so much that you won't care that many of the interior panels are plastic. If you aren't really into driving then the lack of refinement may get to you. But then again if you don't enjoy driving hard... you shouldn't be driving an EVO in the first place.

How does the Audi TT-RS compare to the EVO X anyways? I know it's fast in a straight line... 3.6seconds to 60mph (DSG model/Europe only) is pretty insane... North American model acceleration is pretty close to the EVO.
But I was watching reviews of the TT-RS and they were complaining about the handling. They basically said it's understeer city!

Almost every car out of the box is setup to understeer at the limit. The Evo has a pretty generous -1.0° of front camber and tires with concrete sidewalls from the factory. That goes a long way. STIs come with close to 0.0° of front camber from the factory, so do most Porsches.Originally Posted by Crester

I know this may sting a little bit but the TTRS would meet or exceed anything the Evo can throw at it mod for mod.

Is it true that the TT-RS has a FWD bias for power delivery???
And does it have the torque vectoring rear diff that some of the other performance Audi's have?

You can get a GSR with sound deadening now too...I think it comes with the Sunroof and Leather package...I love my interior to be honest the 2012 has padded leather door inserts too not just hard plastic...that makes it nicer as well....not RS nice but nicer than beforeOriginally Posted by Crester

I've never seen a TTRS before, but the Evo should be in the same ballpark with some mods and a good tuner.. The main difference is going to be the cheaper and noisier interior, but there are solutions to that too..
I say get the GSR and get the SS and SS packages. That will give you the leather, sunroof, HIDs, fastkey, better sound system, extra sound deadening, etc..

1. get a tune and you will have good mileage with power.
2. the x is FAST. ONLY after a tune.
3. the car is quite. X is more quite than the 8/9
4. don't get an sti. its proven to underperform behind evos years after years.

Just because I feel bad for all of you guys posting evo x mpgs ill chime in about my RA
. With the gst tune I see (when trying for good gas mileage) 24 - 25 around town and on a 75 mile trip to Jersey averaging 80 - 120 the whole trip.. I saw a steady 30! My wife even got it up to 28 around town for a little lol. And I don't know about the tt rs... but I used to own a TT225 with the neuspeed p-flow and p-chip power package... and that 1.8t saw me 25-33mpg. No joke.. so you can definitely have a performance oriented car that gets good gas mileage. And again.. don't know about the 2nd Gen TTs .. but mine handled like a dream. And I love my RA... really doesn't matter to me that I don't have leather or a Bose sound system.. the interior still looks nice and what really matters is the car still handles great and is a blast to drive. So yeah.. if your looking to save money on payments and still have a car that will never disappoint in the performance category... even coming from a quality Audi .. then go with the evo
