AMS cold air intake

Hey everyone,

I am looking at picking up an AMS CAI for my car and wanted to know how this system would hold up as I live in Bahrain in the middle east. We are in summer at the moment and temps are hitting 40c ++ but not only that it's obviously pretty sandy/dusty out here.

I use the car as a daily driver and obviously don't mind cleaning the cone regularly to keep the dust out.

Is this a bad move? Should I just get an inbox filter instead to save hassle? Or with regular cleaning should I be okay?

Thanks guys

We have had customers overseas run this system with similar conditions to yours with no issues.

I would definitely recommend regularly checking and cleaning the filter especially if it is a daily driver just to be on the safe side.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions.

I from Dubai. The AEM CAI is great idea like the guy said above just make sure to check it often. I would look into get a Trans cooler if you have an MR because the trasmission tends to get a bit toasty. Im not saying you have to but we know how hot it can get and it defiantly wouldn't hurt

you should be fine. you need to worry about hydrolocking your engine with a cai system. modern-day filters should be able to filter out sand.

All I use is AMS parts on this evo and my last one...as far as quailty and performance u will be hard pressed to find better.

If u are concerned about the cai, consider the Sri. I have it and couldn't be happier

I run the AMS cai and is a great part, overpriced but great lol

What YOU MUST KNOW about this intake is:

1) The CAI only fits GSRs.
2) You will need a tune to install it. (Bigger maf housing diameter than stock)
3) You will need to remove the bumper to clean it.
4) People dont seem to know the difference between a CAI and a SRI like some of the comments from people above lol
5) The only way you will hydrolock your engine is if you go into a river and drive your car under 5 feet of water.
6) It comes with a K and N filter. K and N filters have a reputation for not filtering much.
7) It offers amazing performance and sound The only other intake I would consider would be the AEM CAI which would eliminate the need for a tune and for removing the bumper to clean the filter.
8) SRI are just hot air intakes.

If you dont mind anything of that, you will love this intake.

Op...people like this are the ones u want to avoid. They apparently no zero about mods and parts. A simple solution would be to call ams your self and they will tell u. Anyone who thinks a Sri is a hot air intake is an idiot. That is the purpose of heat shields. Ams the last time I checked the air in the middle of the car coming in is the same air coming towards the bottom. According to ams's website there is exactly a 5hp difference for the $160 price difference. Like I said, just call them, they are the pros and they will explain it to u.

Thank you all for the responses, going with the AMS CAI! Going to place an order in the next few days. Got a big shopping list. Can't wait to start modding an unleash the true power the evo has to offer!

Thanks again all.

The AMS CAI sounds amazing. I have one and absolutely love it, more than any other performance mod I've done thus far.
