2008 - 2013 are identical for all GSRs, the K&N apparently doesn't fit on MRs because the bracket to the SST trans is too big..but for GSR, Injen intake should be identical

Oh sure, no I'm talking about the CARB (California Air Resource Board) Stickers that one has to have on an approved aftermarket part that involves potential emission issues. From looking at manufacturing sites like K&N,AEM, and Injen the CARB authorization is only for 2008 - 2010 EVO X.... the sites usually don't have a check mark that it is approved next to the 201 and 2012 models.... though obvious its the same intake and engine but different years... the folks in Sacramento DOT likely haven't completed the paperwork for 2011 and 2012 intakes... even though logically they are the same and on the same engine... Cali government

I'm wondering if one could get the intake and just use the 2008 CARB sticker? Do they run the sticker numbers on a computer, etc and cross check validity?

If anyone on the forums has had any issues with this or any comments please chime in.

Honestly if you have a carb sticker for an 08 on a 11, they would probably never even run it. It would be a total waste of their time.

Really the only mod they will care about is the cat-converter, and even then they'll likely only check with a mirror

Maybe it's age as well. I am in So Cal and have had my Evo 8 months. I just put my plates on and havent been harassed at all. I had nothing there, not even the paper plate with the dealers name. I figure I am lucky or because I am 42 they just dont mess with me. But we will soon see. Just had the windows tinted at 20% and getting the UR exhasut Monday. See if they mess with me then.

i have the fastest smog passing evo in cali, with 380 WHP at FFTECs mustang (stock baseline was 225WHP). Only mods are BBX turbo, E85 fuel, FIC 1100 Injectors (removed stickers) and fuel pump. No modifications to exhaust or anything else. Car is capable of low 12s with a launch (I only have trap speed slips cause i don't care to launch my daily evo)

Old Dyno @ GST before crappy DW injectors were replaced.

Stock baseline for comparison

117.5 Trap

this was a nice read. Since I'm in California, my plan all along it to be stealthy like a ninja.

I have the stereo-typical SystemsEngineer balding head and wear polo shirts everywhere, so last couple times I've been pulled over (In my STi, not yet in the Evo) they get to the window expecting to see a kid and look a little shocked.

94 is mostly everywhere in Canada, I have been running it since my 1g DSM in 2000, then my 2g in 2009 and finally now my 2012 GSR. So its consistently available. Granted its is not at every station. Sunoco was the brand but now that Husky owns them and Petro Canada, we actually get it at many more The golden juice is roughly 1.5 of regular 87.

The funny thing about the 94 here is that it is actually 96 but they can't advertise that since not all batches can be guaranteed.

Also my 2g was putting down healhy 504whp, no cat, meth, etc. So needles to say I went to Joe and gave him $250 for some and all was good. Don't you guys have hookups like that in CA?

Umm thats weird! I was sure Husky 94 was more of a 92 due to the 10% ethanol in it!

Growing up in SoCal all we ever had was 87/89/91. 91 started getting diluted with Ethanol about 10 years go and used to be 5%, and now is 10%. So technically it's E10. Where I lived it was a challenge to find a single place that had E85, but I'm sure more have popped up in the years I've been gone. But it's still not that prevalent. A lot of people have mixed feelings about running meth injection for power too.

Here in AZ we have the same crappy 91

E85 remains spotty in the South Bay. If my EvoX wasn't my daily driver I guess I might convert. Would have to drive about 10-15 miles north or south of where I live to get the eco friendly blend... just not convenient. So yeah, crappy 91 but I guess you tune for what the car drinks
