Running on Low Boost?
Running on Low Boost?
So... don't know if this has been posted before, but I can't really seem to find an answer.
I have an FP black, tuned to 470whp/360wtq
I also have a AEM electronic boost controller...
Was wondering if I can turn down the boost all the way down to like 5psi. Would this hurt anything!?
I have no accessport btw.
Thanks guys!

Probably not. If I recall correctly the black ships with an 18lb wastegate. While you could turn your boost controller down below that, the wastegate will remain closed until the pressure overcomes the resistance of the spring.

Why would you want it that low anyways? How much boost does Aaron have you on right now?
If you want a low boost map go back to English and have them create you a low boost map for like 20psi.

Well, I wanted it low because I really don't need all that much power for just commuting. But it all make sense since the boost controller has a preset with the lowest boost at 18psi, then there's a 23psi or something and then the tune was at 27 psi which is basically my "full power".
I don't have an Accessport so I can't really change maps. Aaron directly tuned the ECU because he said he can get more power

My tuner couldn't get it to work, but rumor is Golden figured how to make Tephra's Mod work for on the fly map switching for OpenSource tunes for the '11 ecu. That could take care of the no AP and map switching.
Makes sense to have a low boost, commuter friendly map honestly. It's not like the street is a great place to run a car with a ton of power everyday.

The only reason I see getting a low boost map is to a) keep EGT low b) maybe have it tuned where boost doesn't come on as soon (although don't really know anyone who wants b).
