I heard that wrapping metals with tape traps moisture and leads to corrosion? Anyone know if this is the case?

I've seen it with exhaust wraps (https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...asp?RecID=7682). I can't comment on intake pieces. I would think they would be ok. But haven't had
any experiences with it.

The tape will absorb moisture and cause corrosion especially if you are in a state that gets snow and salt on the roads.

Help me understand this mod...

Gold foil tape will (AFAIK):
1. reflect engine bay heat away from the UICP (a 'good thing' - but is engine bay temp higher than the UICP tube temperature?)

2. keep UICP heat 'in' by reflecting radiated heat and preventing its escape...

So if UICP temp is higher than engine bay temp - then you would not want it...

What am i missing here? [shrug]
Please enlighten me.

UICP air temp is colder than the engine bay temps. The air in there has been ran through the intercooler so its def colder...
