Calling all evo x se guys
Calling all evo x se guys
so heres my issue i am in the market for a evo x and i want the automatic so i have been looking at mr's, but my question is are the guys with the se happy with the car or do you wish you have got the mr for the extra bling.
I picked up my MR about 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it. I came from a modded 370z and I needed a change since my Z was cramped and having problems.
The transmission is brilliant and the car is a great DD, I'm actually already purchasing mods for it for more performance. In the end though a test drive will always make or break the deal so PLEASE test drive one if you can first!

everybody’s payments aren't the same.. Matters on the final purchase price, percent you’re getting
financed at, and how many years your loan is. Also if you’re buying used or new will change the
percentage. Just use a finance calculator online on which your numbers you think will be at. Should
be close.

picked up my se in early 2011. Im not 100% sure on the main differences between the mr and se other than the bbs wheels and leather, but ive been completely satisfied with it for being an automatic. With basic mods I was able to get 301/315 on a mustang dyno on 91 so I was pretty pleased. Id say its good for a dd, but at the end of the day still wish i went with a gsr.
I picked up my SE in early 2011. The only thing lacking was the BBS rims. I prefer the cloth seats and don't need GPS etc...
The SST transmission is infinitely superior to a manual, so you really only have two choices

My SE has the BBS wheels with summer tires and the original wheels have snows. Get the SE and you can easily locate a set of BBS wheels. I also like the cloth seats more than the leather; they are cooler in the summer and the heated seats warm up very quickly in the winter. Good luck!
I have 2010 Se with bunch of bolt one and ef 2 turbo. 375whp backed down from 400. You'll probably change a ton of things anyway so why not save the cash and get what you want. Wheels , stereo, ect.
Just picked up my 13' MR. Totally in love with the car. Seriously love it. I still look at it and drool and pinch myself to check if I seriously own the damn thing. Completely stock. Go with the MR. Rockford Fosgate, BBS wheels, Bilstein suspension and I have the Nav. I read people always complaining it is auto and they wish...GSR. Are you serious?
I live in NYC. NYC is just as bad or worse than LA traffic. Trust after seven years of traffic jams there is nothing like having an Automatic. Then just flip the switch and its a manual without a third pedal. It's the perfect daily driver. GO WITH THE MR!

I think the SE is the perfect compromise between the GSR and MR, as long as you want the TC-SST. It's awesome for daily driving, and while I do love the BBS wheels of the MR, the GSR Enkei's have grown on me. After tax and tags I paid under 35K out the door (brand new) in January 2011, with 0% interest on an Mitsu loan.
SE had the following features that were considered upgrades from the GSR platform:
-Heated cloth seats (perfect for cold temps)
-HID headlights (height adjustable, just found out there was a recall where some ballasts could move side to side, they should only be able to go up and down)
-Two piece front rotors
The following was considered a downgrade from the MR:
- Enkei Wheels
- No leather
And these are subjective:
-TC-SST transmission
-Rear trunk lip (instead of the large spoiler)
-Navigation system and 6-disc changer were optional
Ultimately, the SE is lighter than the MR and may have less "bling" but it's a great car. Only complaints I have are common to all Evo X owners (limited trunk space and poor paint quality).
If you can find a used SE it will be much cheaper than a brand new MR.

Thanks for taking the time to put the differences down I was going to research all that stuff iam still thinking I was checking out a 11long mr with 9000 miles but it sold I think I will be in the market in february after tax time but I am planning to check out both se and mr in person_
i would take a SE because your not buying a evo for luxury in the first place.. So with that in mind the car is no different from the GSR/MR models..
I myself and deciding between a 2011 MR without even the fosegate system, but only has 2K miles on it for $32K, or a 2010 MR with 12k miles that has sunroof, fosegate and keyfob for $31K.. *sighs* decisions, decisions
