Hows the top end pull on a X MR ?

Just curious how the MR performs around the 100 to 130 range... Like say cruising around 80ish and drop the hammer... does it pull fast or take awhile like on an RA?

Thanks!

I find the Evo 8,9,10 to be kind of average gaining speed after 80 mph from the factory. Almost disappointing actually.

well this holds true until you tune the stock factory settings..

then the car awakens like no tomorrow even on the stock trim.

To answer the ops question.. its a nice pull ( done it on my friends car) .. just be aware that after 6000rpm its like hitting a brick wall.

You are asking a subjective question that needs more clarification. First are you talking stock or modded and if modded how many mods. 2nd what is your background in cars? If you've only owned Civics a mr will feel strong. If you are coming from say a new mustang gt or any car with lots of torque I would say it feels like a dog. For me a bolt on mr feels like a Prius but that's because my CTSV had 580 wtq and my gtr has 430 wtq

agree with jojipoji, compare evo to my amg or twin turbo 370z, after 80~100mph it just slows down too much

I always thought wtq is what gets you off the line and whp is what keeps you moving, so for top end you would want more hp than tq

I owned a CTS-V as my DD up until this past summer, and still have my GT-R (which is up for sale). I like my EVO MR as a good, all around DD, and especially the handling, but when I hit it, say, coming off of an on ramp, the acceleration is disappointing. To be fair I've been told that if I go with downpipes, intakes, and a tune, there will be a night and day difference. To answer the OP's question, though, I don't feel much of a, "punch", when I floor it past 70/80 mph.

so was this a impulse buy as well? because oddly i am finding a large number of used GT-R's with very low miles, and i am guessing it was from impulse buying of the new fast affordable sports car, that didn't feel or live up to there expectations as to why it's being sold, or is it too needy to maintain expecially with other vehicles.....

And nice touch for nissan to add a launch control switch but void warranty if used awesome

I'll jump on this wagon too.

For me my Evo is slow when compared to my twin turbo Porsche, or my Koenigsegg, hell even my weak *** Vanquish is faster... Lets see my Aventador pulls really hard up top. Of course LOL from a 130 punch, nothing beats my Bugatti Gran Sport.

Now to answer the question without claiming to have a 18 inch ****... The Evo drops dead on its face in 6th gear compared to the other 5. personally I have topped my MR out at 172 MPH and had room to go in the RPM band. Of course I have the head maxed at 9000 RPM so its not a fair comparison.

Not true in the Slightest... you can use Launch control up to 3 times then you must let it cool down for 10 min. You honestly can't expect to rag the hell out of any car and then when you break it for being dumb... expect the manufacturer to eat the cost?

Impulse buy as well? As in all my purchases were impulse buys? No, I ordered the GT-R from the factory and have owned it since February 2009. The reason I'm selling has NOTHING to do with any of the assumptions you made. The car is everything I thought it would be, and more. It is flat out one of the fastest cars on the road, handles like no one's business, and turns the owner into an instant, "Rock Star". But I am trying to buy another house and sell my current one, and it's hard to justify having a $65K-$70K vehicle just sitting in your garage, that you only drive once or twice a week, when that money could help out with the housing situation.

Do you own, or have you owned, a GT-R? You shouldn't make such accusations based on Internet message board posts, as well as not knowing everyone's unique situations. As far as vehicles not living up to expectations, that's quite subjective. I (briefly) owned an M6, and while it's a fine machine, it didn't live up to my expectations, but that was based upon what I wanted and needed in a car. And guess what, I sold it and got an EVO! As for the launch control issue, that's been well documented, so go to NAGTROC for all the info you need. Basically it was people who were hammering the car by launching it all the time. I think any car subjected to that kind of abuse will sooner or later fail. And every year Nissan has made the GT-R faster. I'm pretty sure that after selling my house and settling into a new one, a GT-R could be part of my future again.

i'm sure for the majority of people it was not that it didn't live up to expectations lol.. probably maintenance and other financial reasons, justification for owning the car etc.. if you can just squeeze monthly payments in you probably don't have enough buffer in $$ for all the maintenance etc.. just my guess
