My car is a stock 2008 model x. The pull from 60-120 is not very fast, it took me at least 15 seconds..

I get it, they are angry that someone else thinks their car is better than theirs (which is not true), or that we have the audacity to distance ourselves from the masses. And I've noticed that type of mentality more prevalent these past few years, as the economy has worsened. Perhaps a form of class warfare, who knows? I will say this, I don't park my GT-R in any public parking areas for too long. It has been keyed once, although fortunately I had a Clear Bra on it (since replaced) that sustained the damage, the car didn't. The EVO MR, while I don't park it close to any other vehicles, is my DD. But it's not as flashy as the GT-R, and without the wing, blends in (unless you focus on the front, wheels, Brembos, etc.) so it doesn't attract as many people to it.
i hell no, dude nobody would be leaving the area until that person is found, that.. i don't know why people do that, this 1 EVO X dude had a clear hood (gawd knows why, thats like a open invite) they took his hood off while he was in the store...

and i understand about parking away, cause to me thats like Men's bathroom etiqute(sp?) if there are 100 stalls and i go stand at 87, don't come stand at 86 or 88 and damn sure don't start talking to me... so with cars if i am parked byself at the end of the lot, you dont have to park next to me because you think my car is lonely, rest assured if i come out and there is anything off with my car and yours is the only 1 there, guess who has the bullseye

I had my GT-R parked at the end of a row, no other cars around for quite a distance, in a shopping center. I was in a restaurant for approximately one hour. Best I could figure it, someone walked past the front of the vehicle very close, and probably held a set of keys at arms length, scratching the Clear Bra in the process. I guess some people think we don't have a right to own such nice things, so they commit acts of vandalism. And even the ones that don't go to such extremes, are still angry enough to park their vehicles close to us, with no other vehicles around for yards and yards, just to, "teach us a lesson". Some people are resentful. You don't deserve that car! How dare you own such an expensive car when there are people who are scraping by in this economy!

I've heard there's a point you don't want to cross with regards to modding these EVO's. I have heard of 700 to 800 HP EVO's, but I have also heard just as many blown engines. I wouldn't mind getting a performance upgrade on my MR, IF I knew it was a safe tune, because after all, this is my DD. Secondly, it would have to definitely be a noticeable difference in performance.

It is flat out one of the fastest cars on the road, handles like no one's business, and turns the owner into an instant, "Rock Star". But I am trying to buy another house and sell my current one, and it's hard to justify having a $65K-$70K vehicle just sitting in your garage, that you only drive once or twice a week, when that money could help out with the housing situation.

Do you own, or have you owned, a GT-R? You shouldn't make such accusations based on Internet message board posts, as well as not knowing everyone's unique situations. As far as vehicles not living up to expectations, that's quite subjective. I (briefly) owned an M6, and while it's a fine machine, it didn't live up to my expectations, but that was based upon what I wanted and needed in a car. And guess what, I sold it and got an EVO! As for the launch control issue, that's been well documented, so go to NAGTROC for all the info you need. Basically it was people who were hammering the car by launching it all the time. I think any car subjected to that kind of abuse will sooner or later fail. And every year Nissan has made the GT-R faster. I'm pretty sure that after selling my house and settling into a new one, a GT-R could be part of my future again.

Ive been following NAGTROC for a good 6 months now. Doing my market research for a GTR. When it involves a vehicle that is 70k+ the demographics change QUITE a bit. Some people sell it to grab a new house or another house, some decided to grab a ferrari... if a person can dump 70k+ on an asset that depreciates extremely (please dont give me the argument of "yeah man it holds its value" unless you are talking about a CLASSIC car don't even bother talking please, it's a vehicle... You drive it off the lot, it depreciates. Not going to go into a rant about it)... They then are able to plan their future a bit better and invest in other things... I frankly cannot afford one at the moment (I was able to about 3 months ago but decided to invest that money into my business, at least the down payment of a GTR, after I sold my evo and had a bit of cash left (which is now my down payment for the house) I am saving up money for a 2012 and building a house. So they are going pretty slow.

As for the maintenance costs, like I said... I've done my research the only big cost of owning a GTR vs my MR touring is the damn tires... Minus the tires, it will only cost me about $1500 more annual compared to my MR T. I am VERY OCD about maintaining my evo, at least was. Oil change every 3k, all fluids flushed every 10k. Spark plugs every 15k, I have spent a crap ton of going down to Cobb Plano (11 times in 6 months, for allignment/fixing crap/retuning and I live in Fayetteville, AR which is a good 5 and a half hours away). Anyhow...

Sorry about that....

As for the topic: 80-120 is good enough for you to pass 6 cars in a couple of seconds doing the speed limit but compared to a big V8 it's nothing. A c6 zo6 for example does 80-150 like its 40-80 on the evo.

Actually I do see a difference in how people take care of their vehicles, as well as people who abuse them through launching it all the time, racing, and tracking it. Except for the first year-and-a-half I owned my GT-R, it has only sat in my garage and driven once or twice a week in good weather. Admittedly I had my GT-R priced too high at first, but have brought it down to a competitive amount with comparable GT-R's and returned to stock. The vehicle is worth more in stock trim, and then I can sell the after market parts and Cobb AP separately. May there be a GT-R in your future, I sure hope there is one in mine again at some point.

Thank you, I appreciate it. There is a reason why I am not spending 250k+ on a house and only spending 140 (garage costs about 40k, 3 car spot, lift, heated and all the other jazz lol) + land (between 20-50k, depending where it is at). Already have the blueprints to the house made, just wanting to put half of the cost as down payment so my mortgage will be quite low which will be counter balanced with the GTR's payment haha.

I've never tracked my evo for a reason. With my luck, the wheels would've just come off at the first apex... but cant say I drove it like a wuss. I did spirited drive the evo but not every day. Going back to stock is always a good call, at least you get 40-50% of the money back that you dumped in but there is a certain limit to it... Like if you have cams/dp/turbo's the labor on getting out and putting back in (unless you do it yourself even then, good luck with cams lol) it is not worth it. Which is another reason why the GTR is in plan. I won't be doing everything but a build block like I did on my evo.

Good luck with your sale! Once you settle down again with your new house/investment, as long as the income is still there you will grab a new GTR till then, I wish you patience!

All this GTR talk is making me jealous lol... but seriously, that is my dream car for sure. Just not quite there yet to be able to afford one but hopefully someday... Untill then my next upgrade will most likely be Evo X for looks, price, performance ect. I wouldnt mind getting back into a V8 but there really isnt anything out there new that draws my attention except maybe a GT500 but they are outta price range as well.... at least new ones.

Here is a secret to be able to afford an GTR. #1. Don't get married. #2. Don't have kids #3. Get an education and study hard so you get good grades. As soon as you get married and have kids forget about affording a gtr unless you make over $200k a year.

#1. Unfortunately most of us do.
#2. Again, most of us do.
#3. Went to school at nights for years in the military to get a degree, then a Graduate degree after military retirement.
#4. I could afford a GT-R, but then unscrupulous lenders and financially irresponsible borrowers put the housing market in a tail spin. Now we're all paying the price for that.

I have kids and married too. It took me a long time to get a gtr. It was a lot of begging and pleading with the wife. If I was single right now with out kids, I'd have a GTR CTSV and evo all at the same time! I'd probably be living at home too. Lol
