Goodbye to the exact GSR I wanted :(

Spent a week searching the country for the exact 2013 pb gsr I wanted, found one 1600 miles away and at a fair price. agreed on numbers and got shipping quotes, today is the day they are going to fax me the sales contract.....

No, general sales managaer calls me and says there is interest in the car by others(even though I was giving them a deposit that day, been trying to close this for 4 days but they are slow as hell) and whoever flys in first to buy the car gets it(exact words) I have never heard of a dealership in todays world who requires such a thing to buy a car, and between me and my brothers over the last 5 years, almost all of ours have been out of state shipping.

I had no idea in todays economy businesses think they can be this rude as to want me to fly 1600 miles just to sign a piece of paper. and then fly back and spend another 1200 for shipping, especially when im willing to pay their damn asking price

Dont know how you can have a more sure deal, willing to give deposit immediately and wire the rest as soon as I got a copy of the contract. The guy was really unprofessonal though which irritated me the most, talking all ganster out of no where when I said I wasnt gonna spend $600 plus cost of a night at a hotel to fly in

All the other dealerships wanna give the same ol story of "omg the evo is so super rare, so we cant go under msrp"

I test drove one locally, I don't feel the need to test drive this specific one. They just took delivery one it a week ago. I was just going to have car shipped to me, I never planned on flying out there.

I'd buy the local one but there is no way in hell I'm paying even close to msrp for a left over 2012. This one I'd still save money even after shipping and have a new 13

Yeah this is what I was thinking. Pretty much someone walked in with $$$ in hand and they didnt have to mess with shipping or anything else. When it comes to these cars or similar cars like the STi they dont have problems selling them so they dont have to do things the same way they normally would with normal cars. Keep looking and I am sure you will find one. What exactly are you looking for and Ill keep an eye out near me. What options etc and price range.

are you 100% sure they sold it and not just bull****ting? When i was looking at trading in my 370z for my SRT-10 Ram. I went to a dealership 550kms away because it was a good deal. Filled the paperwork out and all that **** and had to wait for the bank to give the approval. Next day they call me up saying "theres a guy with money in hand willing to buy it, only reason we are holding it for you is because you are military. If you are willing to pay $1000 more for it (since i got 5000k of the asking price), its all yours. If not he is willing to buy it right now for our asking price" I said "nah, i dont want it, the deal was 5000k off the price, not 4000. let him have it".... That truck was on their lot for almost another year before someone bought it.

Phantom black and only option I really want is the ss pckg. This dealership and I had agreed at a price. Little under 34k, I was trying to not go over 35. I had found another one with very similar price discount but way more options but were willing to sell 5k under msrp. It was just too much at 38, I like keeping my loans small

So why didnt you have a local dealer get it for you? The dealerships I have worked with brought in cars from all over the country as long as it was the one you wanted. If they took a deposit and then tried to screw you well you dont want to do business with them anyway--thats leading to a major issue. Be glad and you'll find another one with out all the strings. If it meant to be it will work out.

I doubt they sold it to someone else, the guy called this morning to fax it over and was trying to say they weren't gonna be able to sell it at that price and increased it by almost 3k on me, saying they paid more than they are selling it for and can't afford the hit. I called bs on him because my step dad used to manage one too so I know about "customer invoice" and then their real invoice, and dealer hold backs. A few hours later with the manager and we agree on the price on their site even. But that's when he pulls out this bs about requiring me to fly in.

I think they are just mad they couldn't scam me into paying more even though I'm a young guy who already knew their tricks

If you don't get it, the car wasn't meant to be yours.

When I was searching for my Evo during the spring, I must have found between 4-5 that I was about to buy, but they ended up being sold.

That is until I found mine

Keep searching. You will find one that is meant to be yours.

bleh sorry to hear it OP. I know for a fact dealers will work one of two ways. Sure deals but one is easier than another (ie, your situation) or Nobody has been looking at the car and will to work with anyone. My case was the 2nd and I was in Afghanistan when i closed the deal on my car lol.
