45xxx miles 2010 Evo X. Just had a coolant flush early Dec.
So I stopped overnight at a friends house on my way to Virginia from Cali. It froze over night, in the low 10s and so I let my car warm up this morning and everything looks good. I head 5 minutes down the road look down and I'm almost to the red. I had my heater going and everything so I pull over and turn it off. I check hoses for leaks and the overflow is not full. So I start the car back up and it's cooled off considerably in that short time. I head back to my friends and its heating up quick, so I slow it down and cruse back. I take off my Rad cap and let the engine run and squeeze the hoses, the upper hoses are not flowing Coolant just sitting there and the lower hose is solid. So I take it to the ford dealership to get it serviced under my extended warranty since the factory warranty wont be used by ford. They attempt to duplicate it and can't. So I'm not driving on a bad thermostat so I told them to replace it. It's going to cost me $330 and a day and a half lost of travel. I may be able to take the receipt to a Mitsubishi dealership and get reimbursed the cost. So that's my vent for a while.

Wow 330.00 to install something that anyone can change out. F that. I know the evo 9 themostat can be changed out in mere minutes and the X takes removing your airbox, but only a few more minutes.
Buy a 40.00 oem thermostat and change it yourself, but again warranty crap comes into play

100 for diagnostic, added on. I'd have their *** if they were trying to screw me. I'm a ford certified tech. So the 1.4+part+ diagnostic + taxes/shipping its about right. I should get a mil discount and they called said they will have it ready by COB.
