Swapping a 2008 MR for a 2010 MR?
I have an 08' and had my SST replaced at 30k miles. I'm at 74k and it has been silky smooth with no issues thus far. I have driven a 10' SST Evo and it feels the same. If I were to upgrade I would get the 13' or wait for the 14'. I'm loving this car. Hopefully it will last me another 74k miles.
Bad used car prices....
Hi all,
I have a 2008 MR with a Cobb AP and the 2010 Color LCD instrument panel. It's been a great car, and with 40K miles it still feels new. However, I can't help but think that the 2010's are the best of the Evo X breed since they have the improved TC-SST and still have the combo of high wing, BBS, and leather/glanluxe interior that isn't available in the decontented later models.
I'm assuming I can swap cars for a couple grand cash (I own my MR outright), is this just a stupid idea or should I pull the trigger and own the best example of the Evo X available? Or with the Color LCD and AP, do I already have the important bases covered?
Feel free to shake me of my madness.

Which is a good and bad thing. So I think the answer depends on how much extra $$ you'll have to spend (and the condition of the 2010 EVO X MR). You'll never know if it was cared for as well as your own.
But...switching to a 2010 buys you more time with the factory warranty. You're 2008's warranty will be running out (or maybe it already has).
On a side note - you clearly got your financial act together b/c you pay off cars, and you can pay cash to upgrade. BUT having said that, it's a GREAT time to get a car loan. When I bought my 2008 EVO X Mitsubishi gave me 0% financing -- that's like free money. I just bought a new Audi and got 2% financing -- that's nearly free money. Interest rates are insanely low. Not all car loans are bad to have.
If you are going to get the MUT3, go one step further and have the clutch basket rebuilt. You don't have to ship the whole tranny, just the basket (which is relative easy, once the motor/tranny is dropped; have a shop do that).
It's a lot less than you think to have the SSP500 clutches and steel and DCT seals installed by SSP themselves.....just throwing it out there.

Cool. My friends and I actually rented out a shop with a two post lift and transmission jack, so that's something we can probably tackle.
