Common AWC pump failure, now 4 errors after pump rebuilt
Can someone advise about these errors? Maybe someone else had them and can tell me what was wrong.
This winter at very low temps I got the "Service required" error in dash, scan shown single error: "C161E Awc Pump".
Pump was all rusty inside and out, purchased a repair kit (orings, plate, seals, etc), electrical motor was damaged too, brushes needed replacement, motor worked when tested before putting it back together on the car.
Error in dash remained.
Trunk oil reservoir was filled and I took it back to dealer to bleed the AYC system.
Dealer initiated the bleeding procedure with MUT 3, (dash and computer indicated a bleeding process) but it barely had any pressure from the output lines, it was just like dropping from gravity, pump motor was probably not running (should it?).
Computer did mention that some solenoid got in "Protection Mode" but dealer assumed it was because the bleeding was initiated, so this was cleared after each bleeding command.
Bleeding was completed on low pressure like this, it was without air after a while, so might be ok.
After putting the ignition on, no error appeared on the dash, it only came on when I started moving backwards out of the service, the "SERVICE REQUIRED" was back.
Now when scanning I have some more errors:
C161E AWC Pump (<<< old one)
C1612 AWC Pressure Sensor (High Voltage)
C161B AYC Direction Valve (LH) Output
C161A AYC Direction Valve (RH) Output
Can any of this indicate that motor is not pumping or maybe some "protection mode" is active?
I was thinking that maybe mechanic left the pump cables unplugged after rebuilt, but I can only check that on Monday.
Any ideas ?

I can only answer some of this. Yes, during a bleed, the pump should run. Not all the time, but it should run to get the reservoir up to pressure, stop, then restart as bleeding reduces the pressure, cycling like this the whole time. If the pump never ran, then that's not right. Whether it never ran because of the codes, because the motor wasn't actually fixed, or because the harness wasn't reconnected correctly, I can't say.
As to whether the bleed was successful, gravity alone is often enough for the two AYC lines, but it does take some pressure to bleed the ACD. If you had enough pressure to get some flow at the center, then, OK, it was bled, but that's the hard one and probably the most important.
Other than double-checking that the harness was reconnected correctly and clearing the codes again, I can only suggest having your head in the truck next time the car is started (after sitting for at least three hours). I'd want to know if the pumps runs at all.
