Ok,

You have to remember than Evo X's are pretty mechanically and electronically complex, not like the old school Jap cars... Hell I used to change engines on my old Jap cars, but I won't go near my 2012 MR... I always take it to someone who knows a lot about them.

No one is going to tell if they had full bolt-on's and then put it back to stock to sell.. remember that.

If you are ready and financially stable enough to cope with a possible 'can full of worms' then go for it, as the MR parts are damn expensive. If not then I'd stay away

Well Ive talked him down from $17.5. He is actually from Japan and came over here to go to school and now he is moving back. So the car has to go.

The wheel bearings have been replaced, tires, several sensors, timing belt was checked cause has some light on. front and rear brakes were just done. Everything was done at a dealer. Any issues its gona straight to the dealer while he owned it.

I mean if the car is going to be nothing but problems Ill pass it up

Im not set on buying this car but I thought it was a pretty good deal.

LoL at the Mustake.....Dont hate, its an amazing car in its own element. Im not bias towards domestics or imports.....BUT you got to admit its fun as hell to mash the throttle and kick the rear end out in a sideways drift LOL

In fact all I have owned is domestics....02 Mustang Vortech supercharged, 01 WS6 heads/cam, 99 corvette fully built supercharged, 05 GTO head cam

Test drive the car, check its history for accidents, have a mechanic check it out.. if all is well and you want to buy the car then why not? 144'000 km doesnt seem -that- much to me. Chances are the car was never driven hard. It's easy to rack up km's when you mainly drive highway back and forth from who knows where.
There is no way to tell if the car is going to be problematic. What kind of issues has it had thus far that hasnt been mentioned?
Sometimes you buy a car and nothing goes wrong and still drives like new at 200'000km, and sometimes u get unlucky and get a lemon with lots of problems from the start.

The worry we are all trying to tell you is that you don't know whats going to happen in this car. You could buy it and a week from now the tranny blows and its going to be a nice $10K on top of the car. That can happen on any used car, but most cars are not that expensive to fix either. You say a light is on, is the service light still on? The 08's were notorious for timing belt stretch causing issues. Same with Fuel relay. Like other posters have said if you really want, test drive it, take it to a place that does work with a lot of evos and then go from there.

I say go for it(since it's not my money). You have a full history on the car already, you know of the issues it currently has, and it's cheap enough that you can fix anything that does go bad and still cost less than any other MR our there that may end up having the same problems. Mileage shouldn't matter much. I've racked up 50k (80k total)in my two years of ownership and she still runs great. It's all about how the car was driven and maintained. Have it looked at and set aside a few grand for possible repairs.

^This voids this entire thread... If you would get another car based on the cost then your heart is not set on getting a evo anyway and you should def avoid a 08 MR especially with prior issues and get you a Stang for 15k

otherwise your gonna be left saying, why didn't i just get a Mustang, because honestly that statement leads me to believe you are settling for a evo

^ are you the US importer of Golf r's? It seem like 100 of your 112 posts are "look into the golf r"

I was going to say stay away because of the SST, but that rebuild package at Jack's is a game changer. I say, do it! In the worst case you're in another 5 g's and have a new and improved SST. As for the rest of the powertrain, 90k miles doesn't scare me, given my experiences with putting 99k on an 08 GSR.

yeah but how much is shipping, because unless you live in CO, i doubt shipping will cost just a few bucks...and unless he pulls his own tranny, he could still very well be looking at the 10k price range or even more... but none of this would be a issue if he calls Ford

umm. i would stay away, UNLESS a reputable shop can vouch for the car, i know that AAA certified shops will do a full inspection for certified customers for a little under $100.. do not buy the car without a full inspection .. or you will regret it

Basicly do what you want
Me I almost settled with an 08 GSR now have 11 gsr New warrenteed not secretly abused and I got 6000 off of it by pitting 2 dealerships against each other
You might want to try somthing like that so you dont get screwed over .
Anyway good luck with whatever you choose to do

P.s. Mine is also a daily driver just avoid the bad congestion and take other routes when possible usually takes about the same or less time and at least im driving not sitting in traffic
