4B11 Blows up at idle.. Ugh

I've owned a couple VIIIs and IXs, but this is my first X. Its an '08 with 44K on the odo, bone stock. While the car was idling it threw a rod, cracking the block. Its the cylinder closest to the pass side.. maybe it was the ring issue or the bad fuel pump relay.

Either way I am left with searching for a long block. Any suggestions for locating a remained motor since the block isnt worth a core? And I did some searches but I didnt know if Mitsu had a recall/TSB that would possibly cover the issue - I know its a stretch but I thought I would reach out here answers.

Any help is appreciated.. thx

Isn't there a 5yr/60k mile powertrain warranty? If the car was truly bone stock you you shouldn't have an issue getting Mitsu to cover it.

In simplest terms:
A company had claimed that the ring lands were too tight on the 4b11 which caused them to grenade several motors, and in essence slam the 4b11 saying it was crap etc. and then they basically vilified anyone who didn't agree with them. Then AMS came across the fuel pressure relay issue and issues with the FPR hose and spark plug issues started popping up which explained all the motors blowing up.

That sucks, I would think mitsubishi would help you out on warranty in your case.

Sounds like it to me too....

44K is just enough mileage that if you beat the living crap out of it since new it'd start showing problems.

Any pics by chance?

5/60 warranty, if it's truly stock you have nothing to worry about.

Pretty odd to throw a rod with no load on the engine. One of the con rod bearings must have been completely shot.
