alright guys I've got a good one for you. As i do not want to bring my car to south coast mitsubishi, as they are a bunch of scamming ****** and don't want to help anyone. i am having a very annoying high pitch noise through my revs coming from the general area of the belts/ alternator. it has happened ever since south coast put a new transfer case in my car but it is not drive train related. it happens when i am just cruising and i can also sit at stand still and rev my car around 2500 rpms and i hear the noise. the best way i can explain it is a swing that is squeaking...sort of sounds like a rotational noise but i cant be sure. it also sounds like it could be a very high pressured air leak. please help me and point me in the right direction as its driving me nuts...at first when i started hearing this noise i thought it was my brakes and now i am sure its not my brakes....so it also sounds like a brake squeal. you can also barely hear the song at idle but you have to know what you are listening for.

thanks for any replies and your time for reading this long paragraph lol

oh also i forgot....i purchased a catback exhaust thinking it would just drown out the noise and i would forget about it, but no....it has gotten louder now i think. also the car has 17,250 miles on it.

thanks again

I would take it back to south coast because it might be related to some thing they touched or took of when performing the service you were there for before.

so i took the car in....service was having trouble trying to figure out where it was coming from. he used a stethoscope and thinks that its one of the pulley's...originally they said it would be covered by power train and then apparently he found it that it is not. they quoted me 290 to change the pulley that he "thinks the barring is making a noise from." so its no even a for sure fix...that or i can extend my warranty. i dont know what to do now and i would like to get this dumb noise fixed before i go and put my full exhaust on with an intake and a tune. any suggestions? maybe take it to a different shop and have them do the work? running out of ideas and any reply's would help.
thanks again

Check your IC hoses. Sounds like one of them has come loose. This happened to me once after removing the intercooler, and not tighting the clamps enough on the STI. It was a loud whistling slash honking sound every time I tried to get on the throttle.

They are claiming that an engine pulley isn't covered by the powertrain warranty? Seriously? That's low, even by Mitsubishi standards. Assuming that you're under 3/36k, tell them that you dispute the denial.

the best part is my warranty that would "actually cover" this problem just ended in january....im going to call mitsubishi and tell them exactly what is going on and see if powertrain actually does cover my issue and if they will suggest me a dealership to get it fixed. the mechanic even said that the one making noise is "throwing grease"....so im thrilled with that dealership so far...the finance guy also tried to sneak a 1300 dollar paint warranty onto the car, after i asked to take it off the loan, he began to lie to me and tell me that there is a protectant coat on the car and that they can take all the paint off my car if i want the 1300 bucks off. i then got pissed and called in his supervisor and thank gosh they refunded me. i suggest anyone reading this to stay far away from south coast mitsubishi in southern california....they are scum bags and have terrible customer service.

wow!

I just bought an Outlander Sport there not to long ago for my wife. My experience with them was the exact opposite. I dealt with Sam Smash the entire time so maybe thats why?

the finance guy does suck though...they had a guy that used to work there before (josh i think) and he was a cool finance guy.

Maybe cause we drive like 3.5 hrs to go to south coast but I have not had any problems with them (dealing with Sam and Rigo who is the head service guy directly might have helped)

hahah exactly my friend....it made me especially mad when he was being a smart *** and was like "well we can take all ur paint off ur car, then we can take the warranty off"...he is the biggest *** hole...i swear on it haha, but to respond to the other guy, sam is great, hes a nice guy, but the people who run that dealership suck and are out there to nickel and dime you so just beware in the future
