single vs. dual exhaust

hey guys,

Im looking to get a new exhaust for the X and was just curious if there are any pros or cons going for the single or dual exit. I am mainly interested in the performance and sound levels. Thanks for any information! Also can anyone recommend a quiet exhaust with no drone

If want quiet get the ETS quiet version http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/E...st-System.html

I have heard this in person and it's pretty quiet but sounds good at WOT.

I am going with a single exit Tomei Expreme Ti.

Pros

1) single exit flows better
2) it's heaps lighter than a dual
3) it's full titanium and cheaper than most dual exit stainless.
4) I prefer the look of a single exit

Cons - it's going to be louder

Single, less weighted more fireballs. Dual, more weight looks cleaner sounds almost the same.

- Looks like crap on a car designed for dual exhaust pipes

I've always liked the sound of singles on and four banger better.

This exhaust is awesome. From what I understand it's essentially what's already been said, primarily single is lighter, and secondarily it should be more free flowing. than a split dual exhaust. And the Tomei has that awesome Titanium finish.

I more preferable to the dual exit on the X's. It just looks a lot cleaner to me in general. I personally think that the reason a large portion people go with the single exit is weight savings.

Acm_evo - sure if that's your preference if your to closed minded to appreciate other people's taste then sure. Personally I like that people have different tastes and therefore such a popular car is modified in so many different ways. I prefer single exit doesn't mean I am going rubbish anyone that chooses to go double exit.

I currently have the AMS single-exit exhaust and the reason I bought it, is because of the weight reduction, flow and style preference. There are some dual tip exhaust that probably weight a little less than mine does, but it was just a matter of preference.

I do like the way duals look, but I was never a fan of dual tips on a four cylinder. Again, it's just a personal preference.

Just installed my ETS. I think it looks very clean and sounds good. Tune tomorrow so we shall see what performance gains I get.

you're quite right, and i should apologize for my comment. I guess i didn't need to put it as strongly as i did; however, imho if the car has provisions for dual exit pipes, changing the exhaust to a single exit makes it look strange. Unless your car is used for racing, saving a few lbs and making the exhaust a little more freer flowing is not going to make a huge difference that you'll be able to feel while driving on the street. I also agree that a 4 cylinder car should come with single exit exhaust, not dual tips.

It's all personal preference. I went with the dual Perrin cat back and am starting to regret going with a single. The single exit exhaust just looks more aggressive to me and fits the car better. A 4 cylinder engine does not need a dual exit exhaust.

In the end it’s your, do what you want. Duals will be quieter and slightly more restrictive while singles are usually louder and freer flowing.

I have the ETS dual, I love the way it sounds and looks. But, it was several months of debating between the ETS V2 extreme and tomei. I like the looks of both equally and both sound awesome, my final deciding factor was that I decided to go ETS everything.

Good Luck!!!
