Dealers never called me back to update on my issue even though they said they would. Terrible customer service :. Today, I called them, and they told me Mitsubishi Corporate told them that the noise is normal because of stiff suspension and refused to fix it. I argued that if it's normal, the third one shouldn't make the noise. They said maybe after a few hundreds miles, the third one will have the same noise. WTF? The clunking noise on mine appeared the day after I picked up the car . They also said if I want, they can schedule an appointment with a Mitsubishi district service manager, but he only comes in once a month on a Thursday. Is that true? That doesn't work for me because I can't take off work.

It's a known problem with a known fix: viz., replace the upper plate and bearing. Tell them that you want it fixed or you want arbitration. You may need to put this in writing. You might also mumble "lemon law" under your breath while there, assuming the car is less than two years old with less than 18,000 miles (assuming that you're really in New York).

A friend of mine is lending me his suspension. I'm going to test them this weekend to determine if that's the cause of the noise. I know I shouldn't be doing this on my own but i'm wasting enough time with the dealership. Luckily, the evo suspension is pretty easy and simple .

That's cool. Data are good. But you really only need to swap the fronts, not the whole suspension.

I assume that you've already verified that his car doesn't clunk. Take videos (driving on the same road, of course) to have with you when you revisit the dealer.

ps. I fixed a typo in my post that you quoted

I would also make sure you don't just have a loose sway bar link either.

At a lot of dealerships the person who is in charge of warranty claims is an actually Mitsubishi rep, so they come in from time to time to deal with those type of issues. So they probably aren't lying to you about that portion.

Yup, he said his doesn't clunk. I will only swap out the front pas side where the noise is coming from.

I see. If that's the case, sucks that's how Mitsubishi warranty works because if I have a problem on my brand new car, I'd like to get it fixed asap. My problem is they said he only come once a month and leave at 3PM the day he comes, and my work schedule doesn't allow me to have time to meet him. The tech told me I'm the first one that brought the car in for this issue, and I'm surprised.

Dealership checked and said everything is tight. I took off the wheels and checked also. I'm going to double check thoroughly this weekend, especially the sway bar bracket.

The tech that test drove mine said he opened a case with the corporate. They never called me back to update the status. I called back couple times, and the last time I spoke to them, they said Mitsu said it's normal.

Call 1-888-648-7820. Press 1 and then press 5. Tell the CSR the issue you are having with your vehicle. They will open up a case and a Mitsu rep has 24 or 48 business hours (can't remember exactly) to contact you back.

When the rep gets ahold of you tell them the issue you are having and the dealerships refusal to fix. Mitsu may or may not have told the dealer that the issue is normal. But I would want to hear it from mitsu's mouth, not some sorry as* dealers. And if Mitsu says its normal, keep arguing with them about it. Usually they just give in and take care of the issue.

**Edit** If infact the dealership did open up a case number, tell them to give you the number so you can give it to the CSR when you call. The case number will probably be something like 1-23*******

Can someone post pictures of the things you need to tighten / replace to fix the noise? Not sure what's what in this car. Can you damage anything driving around with this noise?
