2011 Evo wX GSR to 2013 Evo X GSR
I got a notice from my local Mitsubishi dealership that they're willing to buy my 2011 Evo X and put me in a 2013 Evo X.
Basically they want something for under 40k miles, I currently sit at 15k, and they're trying to sell it to someone who's having issues buying something new.
I called the dealership a few minutes ago and told them that I'm semi interested in the letter about the offer and was wondering what they would do. From what I was told and gathered, they would buy my car and basically put me in the same financial situation in terms of payments and amount due but with a new 2013 Evo X. I told them I would get back to them.
I've taken great care of the car and mentioned that it has some tasteful modifications and they didn't seem to care. It has the SSS package and I have ETS intake, ETS Quiet V2 exhaust, electronic boost controller, and the parts were installed/tuned by Iveytune.
Now I may be just having a pipe dream but I'd seriously consider this "trade" if they put me in the same car with the SSL Package and maybe $1,000-1,200 on top for the modifications.
Anyone have any input? I know what I have already and I was actually going to get my transmission fluid, differential fluid, and transfer case fluid changed by IveyTune this weekend. Just need someone to slap me if this doesn't make sense because it seems a little too good to be true.

The whole point of these "deals" is to get you in a new car where you owe more money than before.
They will not give you 1-2k on top of your cars value for modifications. In fact they will probably want to discount the value of you car because it has modifications. Very few modifications actually add value. There's really no point even considering this "deal". You'll end up with same car without any mods and you'll owe more for it.

If that worked then eventually we could all get our car payments down to zero just by trading them in for newer cars.
If you really want a 13 it wouldn't hurt to see what kind of deal then can work out, but it rarely works out for people who are driving 1-3 year old cars.

Its all about the numbers:
-trade in amount
-price of car
-interest rate
If the dealership isnt far from you and you have time to kill, take your car to them for appraisal. If you're happy with the trade in amount then move on to the next step. If they're willing to sell you the 13 at a price you think is fair, then again move onto the next step. Have your credit ran and if the results and interest rates are good to you, then decide if it's worth moving up to a 13 with the options you want.
I traded in my base 12 for a 13 with the options I wanted. The numbers worked for me so I did it.

Don't even tell them the car is modded. NEVER tell the dealership you EVER modded your car. They will use this against you.
Now is this a good deal???
Depends. Suppose you take of your current parts and stick em on the new car.
You're basically just going to get yourself in a new car is it. Probably get you more options. Another color if you'd like. I'd do it if my Evo were fuxxed up. But since your car is in optimum condition...I'd keep my car.

They wanna get you down there and start chipping away at you. There is no way in hell they can give you the same payment. They would be upside down if they did that. Take into consideration how much you put down and how much you've paid all together. Then see what price they'd be giving you on this new evo.
The only way I'd suggest you do this is if something is wrong with your current car. Lets say its been in an accident or it has a **** ton of dings and scratches.

If you're credit is there to get a $25000 used car, chances are you have the credit to buy a $32000 car, Its the dealerships ploy to get you to buy a new car, trust me they will make their money back on your trade in. I work at a dealership I should know... Don't do it, you will lose out.

Might be fun to secretly record your dealer experience and send it to a local news station so they can do a segment on how the dealer is trying to scam people...
