Unhappy I was keyed...need advice.

My DD which is an outlander sport got keyed today. I don't know if i should report it to the insurance or just have it fixed myself. Would my premium increase if i report it? It was pretty deep and goes all the way from the front passenger door to the rear.

Pay your deductible and get a new paint job.

I think they just cover the keyed area and then blend with the rest of the paint.

What is the deductible on your insurance? If its just one panel, and you have a $500 deductible, its not even worth claiming, just pay a shop to spray and blend it, it should cost about the same, if not cheaper.

The insurance company will not pay to paint the whole car for a keyed section... Trust me I work along side them all the time...

Yeah if its a small area that got keyed just pay for it out of pocket. Filing a insurance claim is pointless if you have high deductible. (I have mine at $1000, lol)

But I have seen some guy who got both sides of car keyed from front to back. He got a a complete paint job (including inside the engine bay. He also got to choose any color. Insurance paid for all of it. Lucky guy!

Comprehensive insurance claims will not cause insurance premiums to increase.

Both sides of the car is pretty aggressive. That could be several body panels so a full paint job would be required (and easier).

OP: sucks you got keyed. There is a special place in hell for people that mess with other people's cars.

I would suggest taking your car to a local pait shop and have them estimate the damage. That will give you a ball park number to decide if you want to turn it into insurance. They might be able to fix it for a couple hundred or it might be a few thousand.

Also depends on how deep the key marks are some body shops have been know to be able to buff the scratches out and rewax if the key marks only scratched the clear coat but being that our paint jobs are so thin, its a stretch. GL
