I'm curious as to if you have to replace them or not. I talked to a h.I.d shop and they said it won't mess with anything as long as you don't cut corners or splice any wiring they will work just fine. I don't have the h.I.d package on my car so I'm wondering if I can install them without messing with anything.

If you want to do it the right way, this being the best looking, most effective route, but probably the most expensive, then you should replace the headlight assembly to the OEM HID headlight. That way you could get a legit self leveling system with headlights that are designed for an arc bulb. That or at least swap out the stock headlights to aftermarket projectors (you can score Depo projectors for less than 300.00 on eBay).

HID's in the stock reflector housing = looks like garbage and I don't care what other people say, you will be glaring at oncoming traffic.

You could go ahead and wire them right in to the stock units without issues, most kits are plug and play, but whether or not you'll get any effectiveness out of the HID's themselves (other than being super bright) is up for debate.

I say there's no point pointing HID's in the stock headlights because the stock headlamps are not designed for HID lamps.

Don't be that A hole on the road with HID's in your halogens lol. See if you can find a set of MR headlights and just upgrade to the 55W kit. At first I was like "ohh no, I dont wanna spend close to $1000 on headlights" but man its soo worth it. The level switch is just plug & play too which is amazing !

I've had the SSS in 2010 with the oem projectors and leveling switch. Way over rated. I would just install a plug and play HID kit in your current head light housings.

Eff it, might as well, that's what every honda, cavalier, and jacked up pick up truck driver does </scarcasm>

Don't listen to that guy ^ (not you, AGinHD lol)

There's nothing wrong with properly and safely projecting high intensity lighting (and in some areas, like all of Canada, meeting all DOT requirements, like self-leveling).

If you're going to put HID's into a halogen housing, make it a projector halogen housing at least.

Keep it classy.

Try out a plug n play kit. I've used vvme.com for years and had great luck with their cheap kits. See how you like the kit with your halogen headlights and if you dont like it but still want the HID's then upgrade to a set of OEM HID headlights.

there are some members on this site that do the depo retro's for around 1000 otd,a pretty good price for everything imo. depo also makes a hid replacement headlight all be it harder to find and 400 per. the oem way is pretty expensive.

Don't do HID bulbs in a halogen based headlight. So tacky and completely strips the car of it's class. For the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone even considers doing it. I assume you think it looks good, and you're doing it for show, but the reality of it all, is everyone who sees it are actually laffing at your failed attempt to improve the look of your car.

If you want the blue look, buy the blue halogen bulbs. Easy, inexpensive and don't look that bad.

Is there a bunch of teenage kids on this forum or what? Who gives a fuc* about what others think. Most of them are driving hoopties to begin with. And "class", seriously? It's a freakin Evo.

Get the Depo SSS replica head lights if you really want that projector in the housing, or just install a plug and play HID kit into what ever you have now. It's that the simple.

Exactly, don't make your car look like s*** - because it IS an evo, around here crappy looking HIDs are attributed to hondas, cavaliers, beater trucks with straight pipes, etc. I'm glad you you at least agree on depos, though.

I ran HID's in a halogen housing in my Lancer for about 3-4 months. It is REALLY great for night driving (I take a lot of backroads that have deer on them constantly) but I wound up taking them out just because I didn't like the way it looked.
