Looking into a GSR and need advice...
So I have been lurking the forums for the past week or so because recently I've been looking into getting a used 2013 EVO X GSR. It has just under 6,000 miles (basically a demo car) and all the packages I was looking for (SSS) in WW. Now, I am coming from the complete opposite side of the car spectrum. I currently drive a 2010 VW GTI that was quite low for its entire life so far (I lost a subframe bolt a couple weeks ago
). After reading through all the threads, I've gotten an insight into what the common problems are for the X. However, coming from an electrical nightmare, most of them seem easy to avoid with simple maintenance. However, I still have a few questions and I hope I am posting this thread in the right section because this forum is slightly larger and more complicated.
1) Does the plastic CMC tend to fail frequently? Around what mileage does it become a problem? I've seen threads for an aftermarket non-plastic one, but which is more trusted and frequently used?
2) Should I have the dealer check over the fluids before I drive off the lot? I read the thread about the TC and I figure as a precaution, should I have a tech at the dealer check to see if its overfilled?
3) I know from seeing multiple threads, that 08-10 models had notorious and random spark plug failure. Has this been revised in the newer models? If so, is it safe to run the spark plugs to 60,000 miles as they are meant to be? If not, the GTI ate 2 sets of plugs randomly so I'm used to having a few laying around.

1. The weak plastic CMC problem is predominately 2008 models; Mitsu has strengthened the design each year since then.
2. Having the fluids checked is never a bad idea. Honestly, may as well just have them change the transmission, transfer case, and rear differential fluids now since the factory-fill break-in fluid always gets nasty very quickly. Or, plan on doing this yourself (it's very easy with the proper tools and some basic knowledge).
3. Spark plug failures seems to be distributed over all model years. What seems to be causing it is bouncing the engine off the rev-limiter. Avoid doing that and your plugs should last 60k miles no problem. If you modify the engine and drive it hard I would definitely advise changing them more often though. I personally change mine annually.

Stock CMC will USUALLY only fail after prolonged use with an aftermarket clutch (Stage 2 or higher). Not many failures with the stock clutch
The AMS and Magnus kit are both solid.. make sure you get it with the Evo 9 CMC though (not aftermarket)
