The 8's and 9's seem to ride about the same as the X, at least from my experience.

I don't think you will see much talk here about what is faster than an Evo. Those of us who have Evos know their stock performance as well as the potential, both for drag racing and road racing. The main thing is that this is a car that is basically, a rally car for the street. The immensely capable awd system makes driving in inclement weather pure fun. At the track, the awd system allows the car to hook up and go. The wizardry of the active yaw system makes a rookie look like a pro. I cannot think of another car that does so many things so well. Plus, when you drive an Evo, you have instant street cred. You will get thumbs up, shouts of approval and waves from people who know little about cars and from those who do, not that that matters. I could have bought a Mustang, Camaro or STi, but I chose the Evo because of how great a car it is.

I'm not into drag-racing (by any stretch of the imagination), but know that "fast" and "quick" are not synonyms. (The same distinction is also used in other timed motorsports.)

Do you have the cloth or leather in yours? and the awd light wasn't a issue for me it just gives a bad impression for test drives from them. I wouldn't be buying a 08 mr anyway, I stick to 10 and up.

Bingo. Huge difference. My little Corolla can be quick when trying to change lanes on a busy street. Fast? Never. They are not synonymous, hence my saying that the X is quick, but not fast.

I have the cloth interior and love it. I don't want leather. When buying an MR, make sure that the servicing has been done on the SST. Better yet, buy new.

I'll just throw in my .02...

I honestly don't think there is a better "all around" car on the market than the Evo X. When I say all around, I mean driveability, performance, functionality, handling, economy, and overall fun factor. If you could take all those traits and wrap them into one package for an affordable price, it would be the Evo.

Now I'm not going to say based off of that the evo is the perfect choice for the OP because he doesn't seem like a serious driving enthusiast, and that's what this car caters to. However, I can almost guarantee you that you will not find a 4 door sedan with that much overall performance and the ability to easily daily drive the car year round. The evo is not about straight line speed either, what I personally love about it is how glued to the road it feels, almost as if it was on train tracks. That's something a 150k Mercedes AMG sedan didn't even give me the sensation of (I was actually very disappointed with that car in every aspect, but that's beside the point). What I'm saying here is that if you want to have fun on your commute to work and can deal with the fact that this is not a luxury sedan in any way, then the evo will promise to keep a smile on your face. I use mine as the family car all the time to haul around my 60+ year old parents, and it works great. It's our primary car for everything.

As far as I'm concerned, if you're concerned with ride and comfort and all that jazz, stick with your altima (except maybe get the model with the VQ35 ). Whenever I see a ralliart, I always ask why that guy didn't save a few more grand and buy the evo...

Similar, but the 8's and 9's are very raw. Everything rattles and makes noises.

Agreed. The 8/9 is more raw and you are right about the rattles, not that the X is anything to brad about in that respect. I always laugh at the hyperbole regarding Evos. Salespeople will tell you that they are so fast, your face gets distorted. [Seriously, heard this from one salesman]. Others will say that the Evos have rock hard suspensions with zero compliance that will loosen all the fillings in your teeth. Again, total exaggeration. These are cars that are designed to hit the dirt on a rally stage and fly through deep snow. I just cannot imagine a better all around car than an Evo, whether it be an 8/9 or X.

Op - You drive an altima and you don't like evo x. You are right it is fast.

I recommend a v6 suv for you, a cheap one like a used jeep. You won't have to worry about kids bouncin *****, plenty of space for whatever activites you like. And, and!! A suspension like a waterbed along with lazzyboy like seats, all that for peanuts!

You are welcome! X was the wrong car to test drive, its as simple as that.

Sorry I don't drive suvs period. But I'm basically saying I don't feel that I would be getting my moneys worth driving the car like 2 miles a day and occasionally more on weekeneds. What's the bi deal? It sees becuz someone gives there honest view on the car even after actually test driving. I the bad guy lol car forums I tell you

And why does the ralliart offend you all so much when it does exactly everything I want for a whole lot less? Lol and I'm not changing my name cuz I say this now but if the opportunity arose or situation or right price I could still easily pull the trigger on one I haven't scrapped the idea of a evo x mr in the least fyi
