so text drove a evo x mr finally on saturday and....

Idk what cars you people came from but all that talk of factory tune and tranny being sluggish is crazy. I come from a 97 saturn sc1, 95 and 96 gst, 02 rsx, 08 scion tc ad currently a 12 altima sedan all automatic. And compared to those the 08 mr is a bugatti speed wise. If I were to get 1 I prob wouldn't even tune it, jus do a catback and maybe a intake and enjoy, which brings me to the heart of my post.

I don't feel that I would be driving this car enough nor driving it the way it wants and is practically designed for. Most of you here autox or occasionly track. I honestly don't do that anymore altho I go to edgewater for the atmosphere to watch. So that to me doesn't justify the pice tag plus I can tell if I owned that car id become that "guy". Cuz I don't have a garage to put it and kids love to bounce b-***** off my cars since I have to park in front of a school basketball court.

Ok what I didn't like, the recaro seats yea they look great but are not comfortable at all and matched with that tight supsension that was obviously not designed for cincinnati or northern ky roads really doesn't help. I mean ever single bump and pot holes forget about it. And I'm the truck lol not kid cargo at all and I'm not keen on having a battery on my lil girls back but those are the only things really, best part of the test drive was when he wanted me to get off the first exit I said imma do 1 more and after the 2nd exit the awd service light lit up. I said awesome def wouldn't be buying this 1 anyway good thing I only came to text drive lol carmax they wanted 28k for a 08 with 45k miles on it. Had the navi and fosgate. And the fact that there is like only 1 mistsu dealer with in 50 miles also shys me away from such a delicate vehicle...

So now when I do decide to purchase I will go with a ralliart cuz I hear its a softer more dd oriented ride and that's what's important to me now, plus wll make me feel good to put it work to get to the hp numbers I seek which is around 300whp or lil less. so unless I get eough money to buy 2 cars the evo x won't be in my name anytime.

Most of us DO NOT track or auto-x. I'd say less than 10% of this community auto-x or tracks their evo.

At least you realize you would not be a responsible driver owning a X with all the power and handling you experienced on your brief test drive. Good for you. Having a 3 year old or infant or newborn should have nothing to do with your decision, imo. But to each their own. My wife is pregnant and I'm already looking into Recaro child seats to be able to carry the little one around in....I'm sure there will be those nights I'll be driving around the block to help put the little one to sleep and I can't wait!

Enjoy your '12 automatic Altima sedan!

I'll stick with my Evo.

P.S. You're missing out!!

BTW, it's TEST DRIVE...Not TEXT Drive. :-)

I have an MR-t and it's great for DD. I've never tracked it and probably never will.

I've also owned the cream of the luxury crop (Range Rover, Lexus LS), and even the best luxury isn't really that much better as far as daily rides go.

i do miss that Lexus tho

The Evo X is amazingly comfortable DD. I drove one for two years w/o any issues. Pull the trigger.

Well I may be missing out but the good thing is I won't feel like it, ill honestly be able to now buy a ralliart without the regret of getting a evo x
As I said other things came into play, the fact that is 50miles for a mistsu dealer so warranty work would be a journey, maintence for a evo x I would imagine would be higher just as insurance would be also, and I just can see myself paying 30k plus to curise around town. I love the entire lancer look so widebody isn't important. And I could fit ur evo in my altima;-) my altima is great and there dealers everyone ad the warranty is fantastic, I'm still gonna get a ralliart, take nothing from the evo x its a bad a$$ car but not for me at this time, but I just may see what that green evo will come to be if it ever sheds light

Since reading the replies tho I have reconsidered a bit, if I can manage to keep the altima and get it in her name, then that's a different scenerio...hmmmm

The main main main reason is that if I trade the altima in, I'm 5k back to roll over with nothing down and a high interest rate. Were talking over 14%

maintenance is not bad at all, I'd say it's no different than a non performance car

that would not be a rational decision.

Dear Mr or Ms Thread-starter -

I'm glad you like the car, but please respect this site's rules WRT posting about illegal activities. I merely edited your post, rather than deleting the thread, since the conversation was already rolling.

It is amazing how diverse opinions can be about cars. The OP feels the Recaros are not comfortable and finds the ride too stiff. Hmm. I am 61 and find the seats to be amazingly comfortable and the ride to be firm, but maybe not raw enough, hence my plan to upgrade the suspension. As for his issue with the awd service light coming on, he needs to remember that this is a used car and may not have had proper servicing. Personally, I find this an anamoly, but whatever. Given the OP's comments, he doesn't sound like an Evo kind of person. Better to stick with that nice, soft, comfortable Altima and call it a day...

I forgot to add that basketballs bouncing on aluminum hoods and roofs will put the most delicious dents in them you ever saw. And, I would not call a stock X "fast". Quick maybe, but not fast. I had a full bolt on 2007 Civic Si that was as fast as my Evo when it was brand new and pure stock. I suppose what is fast to one person is slow to another. But, a stock Evo X is hardly in the category of GT-R's, ZR-1's and the like.

Well since most forums like to use fast in car talk i figured i would be no different i am quite aware of the difference between the to but ever since i left machv i tire of the argument but anyways compared to what i drive and had been driving that evo x would be the equilvalant of the comparison
