Two quick modding questions

Hey guys, I have read various posts and have conflicting answers about an answer. Just two quick questions.

1. Do I NEED a tune with just a catback exhaust? No changing in the DP or cat.

2. I am looking at H&R springs. Not planning on auto-x, road racing, tracking. I am just looking for a good looking drop. (I am open to spring suggestions on the south side of $250.) Do I need anything else such as a camber kit? Or would I just be good with the lowering then alignment.

Thanks guys!

I'm pretty happy with my Eibachs! They were less than $250 from MAP. But I'm also local to MAP and don't pay shipping. So, keep that in mind. They were a bit of a PITA to install the rear ones with out the proper compressor tool (you need the flat ones, not the hook/claw ones). The Eibach Pro Kit will drop it about an inch to 1.5 inches. I would recommend new control arms for proper alignment.

As far as the cat back goes, you shouldn't need to tune it. It's not going to cause enough of a difference where it could cause problems.

The stock cat is the major cause of your back pressure in this case. You will barely notice a difference in power after you put the catback exhaust on, nor will your car run lean.

If it's about tuning the car to perfection or a dream to drive, and you know a lot about tuning yourself, then by all means, tune the car after installing the catback.

If it's about enjoying the car as a daily drive, then no. The difference is trivial.

1. A tune is not needed with just a cat back. Wait to install more mods before getting a tune.

2. H&R and Eibach provide the largest drop to my knowledge. You won't need a camber kit either.

Swift springs are awesome imo I've had almost all the other brands. Save up for Lower intercooler pipe, Good brand downpipe , Test pipe or highflow cat depending on the state your in , & a Hallman manual boost controller. Your going to need a Fuelpump aswell. Then get a tune.

don't worry about the lower intercooler piping. it's the upper in the X's for gains.

i wouldn't tune just an exhaust. I would wait until you get an intake and downpipe. get the most you can first so you dont have to keep spending money on tunes

Lippy hit the nail on the head. If you think you are just going to get a catback and call it then you are mistaken . You will get the bug my friend. Also if you are going to spend money on an exhaust, you can get a full TBE from turbo XS for around 850$. Awesome quality and race proven. No I don't work for them, but I have been using them for 10 years!

You will need an alignment after adding the springs. For me, finding a place willing to perform an alignment on a "lowered" car was a pita

Most performance shops that do alignments will do lowered cars

^^ Exactly what he said. I had H&R's before I swapped out for KW V3's.

I've been running an HKS exhaust with no tune since I bought my Evo X and no problems at all. Runs and sounds great.
