Boost gauge vacuum line...?

I am getting ready to install a boost gauge this weekend and I have seen several threads recommending the BOV vac line as the best place to tap in for a boost gauge. This seems to go against conventional thinking to me. I was wondering if there is a consensus best vacuum source for a boost gauge that I just havent been able to find. Thoughts?

Im not looking for how to route it...I am looking for the best place to tap into the vacuum line. I am going to tap into the line off the intake manifold. Seems like a logical place.

Not sure if evos are similar to dsm in this respect but a common place on dsm in to tap into the fuel pressure regulator solenoid, and since it is on the firewall mounting is very clean.

Hm. I'm been told to avoid the line to the FPR because a leak in that line or in the gauge could cost you an engine.

I have never heard that, interesting. Makes sense.
I'm not talking about the actual FPR line though, but a FP Solenoid. All it does is allow the ECU to temporarily raise fuel pressure for the purpose of hot starts. I have always heard of it as being a good place to tap. However, it very well may be that evos have a different and better method to accomplish hot starts than a solenoid, and maybe it is not even present?

Ah, yes. In fact, the line on my DSM came off the cold-start solenoid hose, IIRC. It was convenient, being right there on the firewall, near the rubber boot for the steering column, which is where I ran it into the cabin. NVM.

No idea if we have a physical (instead of software) cold-start valve on our cars. Wouldn't surprise me if it all was software.

I tapped into the vac line to the BOV...works like a champ!

I've always ran PSI Gauges off the T next to the turbo but when I did it on my X it only read boost and not vac...

Its the easiest line to tap and after several thousand miles, I've ran into no issues ;-)
